You can slide across the ice, swim through freezing water, catch fishes, meet other penguins (when the game is populated), and just mess around with whatever grabs your attention.

It’s the sort of experience that looks perfect for switching your brain off after a long day. No pressure, no looming apocalypse, just a frozen island and plenty to discover.

Surprisingly Jam-Packed With Things to Do

At first glance, it might look like a game where you spend ten minutes waddling around before getting bored. Thankfully, there seems to be far more going on than that.

Fishing, quests, races, snowball fights, collectibles, home decoration, arcade-style activities, and loads of cosmetics all help fill out the experience. There’s enough variety that it looks like you’ll always have something else to check out, whether you’re playing solo or with friends.

And let’s be honest here, unlicking silly hats for a penguin is exactly the kind of progression I can get behind.

Built For Hanging Out

One thing I really like is that the game doesn’t seem obsessed with competition.

Sure, there are activities and little challenges, but it feels like the real goal is simply spending time in the world. It’s the kind of fame where you’ll probably start by promising yourself half and hour to see what it’s all about, then suddenly realize you’ve spent most of the evening fishing and laughing because someone launched themselves off an icy hill by accident.
