Tetris On Your Internet Connected TVs

Oberon Media, the world’s leading multi-platform casual games company, announced an agreement with The Tetris Company, LLC, the licensor of the Tetris brand worldwide, to license the exclusive rights for the Tetris game on Internet-connected televisions. Beginning in Q1 of 2011, Oberon’s partners and the most innovative consumer electronics manufacturers will have the most popular video game of all time available directly on televisions and other TV related devices including Blu-ray players.

“Tetris is one of the best-selling games of all time, and has positively impacted every platform on which it has been released,” said Jonathan Boltax, Senior Director of iTV Services for Oberon Media. “We believe the addition of the Tetris brand to our already impressive catalogue will not only ignite endless possibilities for the iTV platform, but also bring the Tetris game to millions of living rooms worldwide through partnerships with numerous leading TV brands.”

“With the support of almost every major consumer electronics manufacturer, connected TVs and devices have the potential to reach millions over the next few years,” said Henk Rogers, CEO of Blue Planet Software, the company that manages the exclusive licensing rights to the Tetris game. “With more than 10 years of development leadership in the iTV industry, Oberon can take advantage of these incredibly innovative devices. Our fans can look forward to seeing Tetris on this entirely-new distribution platform.”

The Tetris game is one of the most recognizable video games in history and has turned hundreds of millions of players into fans with its unique puzzle gameplay. After its beginnings in Russia, this timeless puzzle game quickly became a worldwide phenomenon enjoyed by all.

Oberon Media plans to launch with its first connected television partner in the first quarter of 2011. The game will feature stunning graphics and an all new mode, “Space Mode.” Space Mode takes users on a thrilling adventure where mini games and challenges are played in order to proceed to the next step in the journey. Space Mode mini games include “Light-Speed”, “Debris”, “Meteorite” and “Alien”.
