Lucasarts and Sony Online Entertainment announced this week that a new chapter of Star Wars Galaxies would be made available to the public at large. The third chapter of the series, titled [i]Smugglers and Scoundrels[/i], will feature a new Smuggling System for every wannabe pirate, smuggling, or ne'er do well out there. There will be a new smuggling faction that smugglers can earn points with by running missions for while dodging the bounty hunters trying to stop them who, if they fail, will lose reputation as a result. Give and take, give and take. There will be NPCs scattered about who will offer deadly and dangerous missions for the aspiring smuggler to complete which will earn money and give you a better rep. There will, however, be new enemy NPCs who will be trying to steal your cargo from you.
There will also be a new Player Vs Player Smuggling mode which contains the most profitable jobs but, as a consequence, makes you a target for every bounty hunter in the whole galaxy. Against all this, though, you have a couple new weapons in your arsenal..I'm not talking about new guns, new strategies, or new ships..just 2 new abilities which are dubbed “Fast talk” and “Sly lie” that will assist you in evading capture and concealing your highly illegal cargo from the nosy parkers you run into. You're a smuggler, you fight with your brain..the guns just come in handy from time to time.
