At Gamescom 2009 Sony announced that they will be releasing a slim version of the PS3 world wide September 1, 2009. Along with being a smaller system Sony will be introducing it at a smaller price of $299 (299 euros and 29,980 yen). The regular sized PS3 will be seeing the same price reduction starting tomorrow. Other than being 34 percent lighter and using 34 percent less energy, the PS3 Slim will have the same features as previous models.
