What would a Nintendo handheld be without the lovable plumber Mario? Pretty dull I would think. The Nintendo DS will have a Mario launch title in Super Mario 64 DS. As the name suggests, this is based on the original Super Mario 64 but revamped for the Nintendo DS.
After receiving an invitation from Princess Peach to visit, Mario, Luigi and Wario travel to the royal castle. When they get there, they are surprised to find nobody’s home. Yoshi, napping on the roof of the castle, wakes up and realizes something is wrong in the castle. When Yoshi enters the castle to check things out, he discovers that Bowser has ransacked the castle’s Power Stars and imprisoned the Toads in the castle’s collection of paintings. It’s up to Yoshi to save the day and figure out where Mario, Luigi and Wario disappeared to. The scenery of the castle is from the original title, and while it may be familiar, game play has definitely been turned up a notch.
Super Mario 64 DS will showcase many new features while staying true to the fun game play of the original. Players control familiar characters like Mario
