Wii users with WiiConnect24 turned on should haved noticed that sweet blue glow coming from the inside of their Wii’s. Nintendo has just released a new firmware update.
This update is mostly to increase functionality. First, a digital clock has been added to the main Wii home page. The Forecast Channel now displays the current weather in the small message window, allowing users to see the weather without opening the whole channel. The News Channel also features this preview mode as well.
The Wii Shop is also a little easier to use. Since there are now over 100 games available to download, searching for games needed a makeover. Now, a welcome screen highlights a few different games and new search functions have also been incorporated.
Modders beware, however, because this upgrade does have the potential to cause undesired effects to your console. This is another way Nintendo is staying one step ahead of modders.
