Jack Thompson did not pay the $10,000 he proposed he would if a game company made his violent videogame ([a]https://www.mygamer.com/index.php?platform=homepage&publisher=&developer=&game=&page=globalnews&mode=viewnews&id=1211[aa]see earlier story[/a]) after a mod of Grand Theft Auto was released attempting to meet many of his requirements.
Thompson claimed that the mod was not sufficient to meet his specific requirements. Furthermore he stated that his challenges — both the idea for the game and the $10 thousand dollars that he promised to charities — were satire and not meant to be taken literally,
In response the webomic Penny Arcade, who have been less than reserved on the issue, made a donation of $10,000 dollars in Thompson?s name to [a]http://www.theesa.com/foundation/index.php[aa]The Entertainment Software Association Foundation[/a], a fund that has raised more than $6.7 million over the last eight years. Among other comments, Thompson has compared the president of the ESA to the leader of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler.
Aside from threatening multiple websites and individuals with legal action Thompson has not made an official statement of any kind on the issue. If he does we?ll let you know.
