?Towel trick? vs. Red Bars of Doom

By now just about everyone with an Xbox 360 has heard the rumors or experienced of the dreaded ‘red bars of death/doom’. It happens when something in your 360 is malfunctioning, the game suddenly turns off and the Xbox just flashes red lights at you. If this has happened to you, the internet may have a quick McGuyver fix for you.

Now, first things first, this is a “you didn’t get this from us” fix that may or may not work. Some people have written saying it works permanently, which is quite impressive for roasting your Xbox like a turkey, some say it only works for a few hours. If you’d like to try this miracle of home electronic voodoo to make your 360 shut off those infuriating red lights, please by all means try the following:

  1. Deep breath, go grab a dry towel.

  2. Wrap your 360 (completely covered) in the towel and turn on for about 15 minutes.

  3. Ding! Fries are done! Remove towel and enjoy your oven fresh Xbox.

So, as to why this works, our team of scientists had no idea. Is your Xbox turning off in resentment of that ‘other’ console next to it? Is it a miracle of modern science? We don’t know. We do know that you shouldn’t burn down your house and you should always check MyGamer.com for your latest and sometimes weirdest news.
