Electronic Arts announced today that The Sims 2 has sold more than one million copies worldwide. What’s even more impressive is the fact that despite only being out for ten days, it is currently EA’s biggest launch for a PC title in the company’s history.
“The Sims franchise has become a cultural phenomenon and The Sims 2 is a game that changes the way we think about our industry,” said Frank Gibeau, senior vice president of marketing, EA. “The game has sold one million units worldwide in its first ten days at retail — more than fifty percent of those games were sold in Europe.”
The Sims 2 has kicked off EA’s fall lineup with a bang, and with other titles like Goldeneye: Rouge Agent, The Urbz, and Need for Speed 2 Underground coming, it has no signs of slowing down.
