For around 40 US dollars, this neat little gadget can repair just about any disc that might be scratched. Everything you need comes in the package so you don’t have to worry about buying parts incrementally. To make things even more convenient, the unit is able to run off battery power (6 AA batteries, not included) or though an AC adapter (which is included).
Fixing skipping discs is an easy process with this device. Start by taking your injured disc and lightly spraying its surface with the included solution. Once slightly moist, insert the disc into the repair unit and fire it up. The unit will then automatically rotate the disc and repair any damages. After a moment, the unit will actually pop the disc out of the slot, indicating that the cleansing process is completed. Using the little towels that are included with the unit, wipe off any extra moisture and buff the bottom. In a few minutes, your disc should now be back in playable condition. “Spray, spin, and shine” is the marketing slogan behind this product. It is simple and easy to use.
The unit is a little bulky, but conveniently stores everything the user will need within itself. This keeps accidentally misplacing components to a minimum. The unit also comes with a lifetime warranty.
This product definitely does what it was designed to do, but there are a couple minor gripes. When in use, the disc repairing process is rather loud. This is definitely something you are not going to want to do when the baby is sleeping. Secondly, the solution and the “FlexiWheel” that comes with the unit should clean somewhere around 50 discs. However, additional solution (and new FlexiWheels) can be purchased separately from the DigitalInnovation’s website. Finally, the entire unit looks like it came off an alien space ship. The overall design of the unit just doesn’t look too appealing, but it does get the job done.
If you have a lot of scratched and uncared for discs, there is really no reason why you shouldn’t buy this product. It works exactly how it should with no hidden surprises and difficultly along the way. When in use, the unit is a little noisy, but it is a small price to pay when repairing a game disc that is worth $60.
