Nintendo to increase DS shipments

By Quinton Miles

Fans who missed out on a Nintendo DS on its November 21 launch will be happy to know they’ll at least have one more shot to nab one. Nintendo announced today that it will increase the total shipments of their hot handheld before the end of the year, in an attempt to combat the high shortages and the 500,000 units that sold out on the first week.

“Nintendo is doing everything it can to make Nintendo DS attainable for the holidays,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “The enthusiastic response from shoppers has made Nintendo DS ‘must-have’ — and we’re determined to make it ‘will have.'”

This may very well be the last chance for late holiday shoppers to grab a DS for the holidays, so if you want one now’s the time to get it. The Nintendo DS retails for $149.99 and comes with a demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters.
