Konami Tecmo has revealed their latest project in a special press conference held on October 14, 2009, as well as Japan’s Famitsu Magazine.
Hokuto Musou is a Dynasty Warriors game based of the cult famous anime series, Fist of the North Star, which has had numerous manga, anime and a series of motion pictures since its debut. In the games presentation, the story’s main protagonist, Kenshiro, fights dozens upon dozens of enemies using his martial arts attacks.
Tecmo said that they’re going to provide two story paths, one for Kenshiro that follows the original source material, and a brand new alternate story. Fans will be pleased that the gruesome aesthetic the series is known for is present in the game, with bodies suffering from lethal blows having their bodies swell up before exploding in a pool of blood. While it hasn’t been outright confirmed, it is implied that Kenshiro won’t be the only playable character, with other series mainstays will be available to play. No information on other modes or mechanics has been released at this time.
The game is slated to come out for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 next year. It is not known, however, whether the game will come stateside.
