Koei, Tecmo to Merge

Tecmo's tailspin is about to end, it seems.  Tecmo and Koei shareholders have approved a merger between the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive publisher and…uhh…the other one.  Yes…Tecmo, after semi-disappointing sales of Ninja Gaiden 2, the resignation (and lawsuits) of well-known developer Tomonobu Itagaki and a breakdown of leadership in the boardroom, was seeking a way out of their woes and, thanks to Koei, have found it.

For those that didn't read my article for some crazy reason, Tecmo was initially offered a deal from Square-Enix for well over $100 million USD, but turned it down.  The potential fallout from this exchange is difficult to gauge.  It's tough to think what can result from the masters of the wholly unimproved sequel (seriously, Dynasty Warriors' only improvement since DW2 has been an ever-expanding cast) acquiring some bold, innovative titles.  But who knows?

Stick with MyGamer, either way.
