E3 2005: Game Boy Micro

Nintendo has announced the Game Boy Micro today at their E3 press conference. Game Boy Micro is a miniaturized version of the Game Boy Advanced which features a backlight, a headphone jack (thank goodness), and backwards compatibility with Game Boy Advanced titles.
Players can also adjust the brightness of the screen of the new Game Boy. It will also have face plates to customize your Game Boy Micro with your favorite colors and designs.

The new handheld will be 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall, and .7 inches deep. According to Nintendo, it’ll weigh the same as 80 paper clips
(2.8 ounces).

Nintendo’s senior vice president, George Harrison comments on this new
system: “We’re making the gorgeous Game Boy Micro for image-conscious folks who love video games, the ones who want the look of their system to be as cool as the games they play on it. Because of its diminutive size and industrial-hip look, Game Boy Micro immediately identifies the person playing it as a trendsetter with discriminating style.”

The GBM is set to release this fall in North America.
