Car Trader (Switch) Review

Car Trader has the player bidding on wrecked cars, then click on a button to fix them, then click another button to sell them hoping to earn a profit. What happens when you earn a profit? Nothing.  What happens when you lose money? Nothing. What happens if you don’t bid on a car? Nothing.

The most entertaining aspect of this “game” is reading the obvious knock-off car names and brands.  For example, players can bid on a totally busted Yoyota or a Nizzun. Each car is displayed with a number of low res jpgs that must have been taking at a literal junkyard somewhere. Worst part is, the AI gets into a bidding war, making insane purchases for wrecked vehicles. Would pay a slick five grand for a completely totally sedan, then pump another few thousand to fix it?  The dumb AI will and without a second thought. It is also weird that the UI looks like it was made for a touchscreen interface but instead the player has to awkwardly select from a menu that doesn’t indicate which option is highlighted.

Like Car Mechanic Manager, Car Trader is pretty terrible; there are Excel spreadsheets that are more entertaining.

Not As Good As: organizing your financials using a spreadsheet

Better Than: wrecking your own car

Also Try: the auction house in Final Fantasy VI
