Atari: Game Over Documentary Will Be Free

Microsoft announced that Atari: Game Over, a documentary that tells the tale of how the Atari 2600 E.T. video game failed to sell and truckloads of cartridges ended up in a landfill, will premiere on November 20, 2014. The best news: it will be free for everyone.

Directed by Zak Penn, this documentary will be free via Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC through video.xbox.com. You will not even need an Xbox Live Gold Membership.

Unfortunately, this film was developed under the Xbox Entertainment umbrella and was recently closed. Stranger yet, some of the excavated copies of E.T. have been selling for big bucks on eBay, fetching well over $1,000!
