Oblivion

I've had a dilemma I've been struggling with (in the game). I keep coming across really sweet weapons and armor, but they weigh too stinkin' much so I can't use them, let alone carry them off to sell. I got this really sweet Daedric cuirass but it weighs 60!

But since I'm in the Arcane University, I took it there and enchanted it with Feather. Now it adds a bonus of 50 to how much I can carry. Total weight of armor- now 10.

That's a good way to carry the heavy stuff. Also, if you buy a house (The one in Anvil is nice and close to the front gate) you can just leave the stuff you like but don't use much there. Like the cool Deadric stuff. The only prob i have is my guy is so bas ass that the game really isn't too chalenging anymore. I'm level 30 or something and i just finished the Mages Guild and the boss type at the end was a cakewalk. Thats the only fault i can find in this cornicopia of video game deliciousness.

I'm level 23 (probably will be 25 as soon as I sleep) and things are just now getting easier to deal with. I plan on mastering all of the side quests before beginning the main one. Unless someone can give me a reason to jump on in.

um, I haven't done a single thing on the game and there have been no randomly spawning Oblivion gates (that I know of). Do they only start after the first plot mission?

I'm level 26 and just started the main quest. Those things are NOT meant to be done at high-levels. They're insanely difficult. Oblivion gates are just crazy. Not to mention the fact that you get lots of guards to give you support during missions, and the number of enemies factors that in. And when you're at a high level, they'll all get killed first fight.

yikes. I'd better get on it then. Last night I had my guy sleep for the first time since last Friday. He leveled up three times to level 26. Time to start fighting.

I've also racked up a wad of gold that I used to enchant my Daedric armor, bow, and glass long sword. I enchanted the ebony helmet (haven't found any Daedric ones) with fire protection. Since I'm a Dark Elf and already 75% protected from fire, the helmet makes me 100% fireproof. I put feather on the greaves and cuirass so that instead of weighing 96, they weigh 23 collectively. I guess it's time to throw down on some Oblivion gates.

I was able to close an Oblivion Gate using my own set of invisibility armor (100% chameleon)...but it's too easy then. It can break your game entirely if you're invisible since no one can engage you in combat at all.

I need some help. I want to be trained by the Master Alchemist but he requires a bottle of 399 Tamika wine and 399 Surelli Brothers wine. Where do I get these things???

I remember those wineries being near Skingrad right outside the western gate. There should be some way in town or at the vineyards themselves that may help you get the bottles. Otherwise, you'll be spending a lot of time searching everyone's wine rack throughout the game :worried:

Because you make happy trees i'd love to help. There's some in the wine cellar of Castle Skingrad. The door is off of the dining room. Theres lots of solid items in the Deadric Quests, a reusable soul gem and a BA sword. Sometimes it's better to wait though as leveled weapons get more pissed with age.

Thanks Dave! I even took a break from that quest last night (even though I only played for a little bit) and completed "the assassinated man" quest for the Dark Brotherhood. That group is so evil. It's awesome. If you do join the DB, be sure to hang out in the sanctuary and listen to the others talk. (The NPC discussions can be hilarious as they react to each other). One I overheard last night between two assassins for example. One told the other she had heard about her most recent contract and the "debaucle". The other replied "oh yes, she gave me quite the difficulty. Her head just wouldn't come off. I hacked, sliced, and sawed but her tendons must have been made out of steel..." Sick, but funny. Kinda like Asylum.

Tonight, I plan on mastering Alchemy (give him the wine and pay for the training), attempting the first Oblivion gate (and maybe the second), and becoming the Grey Fox. Or do something else to make money.

Oh, and I'm now such a Grand Champion at the arena that they will only be giving me 1, 2, or 3 minitaur lords to fight (my choice). One was pretty tough, two was more difficult, and 3 nearly got me. However, my sword does 18 damage + 21 shock damage + soul trap. Then I poisoned it. Later, I celebrated with some steak.

I've downloaded the Arcane University Orrery and the Wizard's Tower add-ons. The Orrery adds a quest to fix the Orrery (the locked door in the Arcane University lobby). The payoff is pretty interesting.

The Frostcrag Spire, the wizard's tower is a new place to live with all sorts of fun stuff for the mage oriented player with a garden containing some of the more unique alchemical ingredients, portals to all of the mage's guildhalls and the Arcane University, and other doodads.

Yeah, those were pretty good.

I've downloaded all of them and I have to say my favorite has been Mehruen's Razor. It was a fun quest with a totally sweet reward.

The Theives Den and Vile Lair are pretty good too, but they're nothing more than safehouses essentially.

YES!! I finally got my 360 and Oblivion (and NFS Most Wanted).
I just started Oblivion and I'm in that sewer place.
Killing rats is so much fun...
O yeah and I chose a Nord. Guess its no more social life for me.

Mehuen's razor is pretty sick i'd have to say. They all seem to be worth the 2-3 bucks for some extra hours of game play. Just as long as they're not putting out crappy games and making you pay to make them good. Oblivion does that all on her own. aawwww....

Dave, since you gave me that tip, I went back into my secret stash of swag stored in my mansion in anvil. I had swiped those bottles on my way through the first time, before I even got that quest. Now I just have to level on up to Master. I'm already an expert in armorer, alchemy, blade, destruction, sneak, and a couple of other ones that are major. The minor skills don't level up nearly as much. Being a master of sneak is coming in real handy. I can sneak run with no penalty, it's just as silent as creeping in sneak mode. They can still see you, though, and hear you. However, unless they have extremely good vision, they don't see me even when I'm crouched next to them in the dark.

Next: finish the Ultimate Heist. I'll get the Grey Cowl and be uber sneaky. That'll help with those blasted random Oblivion gates. Does anyone else despise those things? Am I the only one that immediately leaves if one is nearby? I'm pursing some of the items that'll make it easier. I'm past that initial level of "do it now, and the enemies will be easier" into the "crap, now the baddies are twice as bad" part. So since I've gotta do it the hard way, I'm getting some good stuff to do it with.

My current problem is getting the stinkin soul gems. Is there a way to find them or do I have to continually buy?

I've also got Shadowmere. Cool horse.

Soul Gems: You should find a ton in the loot in caves and ruins and whatnot.

I hate Oblivion Gates. I'm finishing the main quest right now just so I can be done with them! (Though I will say I'm enjoying myself on the main quest. It starts a little slowly, but definitely picks up some steam!)

You need to get the Vile Lair mod for a nice piece of sneaky armor...

Shadowmere kick ass. I love when horses jump into the fights too, it's quite hilarious. In one of the deadric quests you can get a reuseable grand soul gem. I'll see if i can remember which one it is.
