boring???? lets play

Trig all the way. I loved trig and understood all of it. Calc was okay but I didn't get it as naturally.

Reading Great Expectations or Root Canal?

well i've already read great expectation and it was pretty good, so i'm gonna go with root canal cause i like surprises.

ok i know i'm gonna break format here with this next question, but maybe we can evolve the topic a little bit. i'm gonna ask.... (tympany) an open ended question!

the age old starter question....if you were on a desert island, and you only had one type of food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza. It has the most basic food groups in it. Less likely to contract scurvy or something like it that way.

A more important question:
If you were trapped on a desert island what one book would you bring with you?

hmm. i wish i read more. is it a cop out to say something like an encyclopedia or the dictionary? i'd want the first one, but only if it contained more than just one or two letters of knowledge... unless of course it was E and had extensive information on "E"scaping a desert isle.

pizza was my answer too. with everything on it. then you could pick off what you dont want that day.

what one VIDEO GAME would you want? ok let's expand that to three, it's more interesting that way. and bunches of people can answer if they want, cause i think this is a good topic considering we are on mygamer and everything....

Of the video games I have played thus far, I would probably say Diablo II or Timesplitters Future Perfect. If I am going to be on a deserted island, I need something with replay value. Thus far, those two games have provided the most of said quality. I could have been smart and named an online game so I could tell people that I am stuck on an island, but I will suspend my disbelief.

For book, I would probably say The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Atlas Shrugged is longer, but I've only read it once. TF has made me feel better about life than few things I have otherwise experienced. I am sure that with subsequent readings AS will do the same thing.

For food, PB and J. Though pizza is nice as well.

For games:
Curse of Monkey Island (I love Guybrush Threepwood)
FFX (game length is key)
KOTOR (Lightsabers are fun)

Book is a tough one. Can I cheat and pick my Douglas Adams compendium?

Shit, I forgot we get three games. How about Alpha Centauri for the last one. It was difficult not choosing a Metroid game, but much to my disappointment, they just don't have a whole lot of replay value. I am not a big fan of the speed run idea. One day I may try the secret worlds. I hope with one of the next iterations they improve upon the notion of replay value.

hmm. maybe i should check out this alpha centauri game. what is it like? i remember reading about it before it came out...wasnt that back in like 98?

for games...i was really thinking of having at least one that was an MMORPG so i could have some socialization in my day. and maybe a good FPS with lots of mods like halflife (though hl2 better graphics)...and then... maybe warioware.
of course all of these gaming decisions are made on the assumption that i don't have to forage for food all day cause i have unlimited pizza.

I don't know the official genre name. I am not good with genre names. It is like the Civilization games. Seven factions land on Alpha Centauri and duke it out for dominance. You build cities. While you don't specify each individual building, you can make some choices of what to create like libraries and temples, or the sci-fi equivalent. You research technologies that provide you with new units that allow you to explore the world or other things to build in your city. There are several ways to win the game: military (kill everyone else), economic (corner the currency market), academic (be the first civilization to reach a certain technology), and the diplomatic way (be elected supreme god of Alpha Centauri or something like that). Each faction had unique qualities and strengths and weaknesses. Plus there were native lifeforms that attacked you every now and then. With several difficulty levels, there was a lot of replay value. A fun game if you like non-twitch games.

And I thought these questions always involved disposing of the details like how all the pizzas were made? Or where would you get power for your video game system?

Wow, this topic has really grown, well I might be a little to late for input but who cares, it's me

Games, Replay value and durability is the key, with that said, Chrono Trigger, about 12 endings, and fun as all hell, Tetris, crack without the side effects, and I would need something for short doses or long doses but that would also relieve stress, Burnout 3 would be the key, at a distant 4th in a tie, oh and I do know it's only 3 games but I thought this deserved mentioning, especially because of the lack of *cough* social engagement, The guy game or Liesure Suit Larry

Food wise, I would have to qoute an actor I am only too jealous of because he's getting good luvin' from Rebecca Romjin

"that's easy, pez, cherry flavored pez"

Ok, let's adapt the desert island idea a little bit. What superhero/heroine would you want to be trapped on a desert island with? I will allow two answers for this: one choice for reasons of practical utility, protection, survival, and perhaps escape. The other choice can be someone of the opposite sex for...various reasons. Or you can combine both. Please be creative. I know that certain superheroes could allow you to escape from the island with relative ease. Let's try and go beyond those. I still have not decided, so I will post my answer later.

wow, I feel like Jason Lee's character in mallrats, so here goes, for protection I would have the x-mens wolverine, sure superman could fly me out of there and so on but I did some thinking and here are the reasons. Wolverine regenerates, If we can't find food, I'll eat his right arm and the next day it's back to normal, The claws, he'll kill anything that messes with me. He's got that whole sense of smell and he's like a wild animal, he can find himself out of anything.

Opposite sex for various reasons. Here is where my brilliant mind shines, sure wonder woman is hot, damn she's a goddess, catwoman has that whole cat thing going on, but my choice would be, wait for it, wait for it. Mystique, sure she's all blue and all, but if I'm going to be in a desert island I'm either going to get bored eventually or something to that nature, but nothing beats saying to her "you know what, today I'm in the mood for halle berry, or eva mendez" Or someday when I'm in the mood for something freaky "You know what, leave the blue on"

Kurruption. Mystique. Genius.

I know there are plenty of others who have fantasized about super heroes. Don't be shy. We're all mad here.
