Kurruptions Gaming Roundtable Discussions

awww poor sony! After 2 generations of dominance they seem to be getting soft! Hell if the ps3 has the worst port of the orange box, and madden 08 can run at 60 fps on the 360 but not the ps3 sony is in for the fight of their respective lives! Who would of thought sony would become so damn cocky and drop the ball this generation?

New topic: "Year End Mandatory List"

Ok, toss in your votes for best _____ of 2007, gamingwise of course.

Best game in 07: Bioshock
Best sports game in 07: Fire Pro Wrestling Returns
Best RPG of 07: Persona 3

Best 4 games:
Disgaea
Persona 3
World of Warcraft
Bioshock

Biggest disappointment:
Mass Effect

Didn't play Fire Pro. Been thinking about it but than I see something in the used game pile and I kind of just wander off like I have ADD

biggest dissapointment for me was assassins creed! Best handheld game so far is Brave Story: New Traveler, I'm so pissed I passed on this game, I purchased it just two days ago and by far it's the best ORIGINAL Rpg on the psp.

New Week, New Topic: "The Unseen Fanboy War"

ok here we go, we have a new Metal Gear game coming up, and we also have a new Splinter Cell game coming up, which side are you on?

I've been a fan of MGS since the "I feel asleep" days but I'll be damned if the story in the past two is making that series so damn complicated, not so much 3 anyways. 4 looks interesting, yet SC 5 seems to be a big departure from the series

That's what it was looking like in Double Agent. "Oh man! It's gonna be so cool to play a game where you have to live in a prison and bribe guards and get in fights with inmates, that's so unique and it's taking Splinter Cell in a whole new direction!"

For the first 45 minutes of the game. I don't think it'll be THAT different from the rest of them. Still good, though.

I have tried several times to get into Splinter Cell and I always felt like it was a poor mans Metal Gear. I just never felt that it was that deep or awesome, just something that they figured they could mass market if they "Tom Clancy'ed" up the fiction a bit.

Speaking of Clancy that man must wear an insanely large money hat at this point. Is there any game that doesn't have his name on it somewhere?

Clancy wipes his ass with hundred dollar bills man! Splinter Cell is still a pretty good game series though. Metal Gear is now the Xenosaga of stealth action, play for 20 minutes, cutscene or dialog for 30!

Xenogears wasn't part of a series, though. If Xenosaga Episode 1 was the full XS story with the same voice acting and graphics, I'd take Xenosaga over Xenogears.

Have you beat XenoGears? The last thing in the credits says "XenoSaga expisode 5" It was supposed to be something grand and massive with 9 episodes. They cannot admit to the fact that they did this because the company made the game with Square and than went to Namco without the rights to the game, but that is how the entire thing was planned. The game sold poorly and was taking too long to make so Namco ended up pulling the plug on it and making them finish before they really wanted to.

Oh, I know that Xenosaga was supposed to be a 6 part series...and one of the single greatest disappointments to me was that it didn't pan out. And I know that it will never, ever come to fruition with Monolith's crew going to Mistwalker, then the remnants getting sold off to Nintendo.

But what I mean is that Xenogears really was an independant game. It didn't intentionally throw things in to be addressed in the sequels (...I'm looking at you, Virgil). Xenogears could be played and the story can be viewed as its own game, which can't be said for Xenosaga.

These forums are F*****G dead man! Oh well, lets see since you two are talking Xenosaga, how about this, "Unfinished Business"

What are some game series that sequels were planned for but it never happened!

Advent Rising had a good story going, and thats about all it had, but the game that ended in a cliffhanger and the sequel never came through was freaking XIII, I loved the comic book style and the story was pretty good, the later stealth heavy levels really ruined the game though! and thus the game ends in a big reveal and we never got to play through what happened!

That is the thing though, if you follow that link for Xenogears perfect works and read it it lines everything up exactly with Xenosaga. They litterally took the entire story and moved to a different company, never to speak of Gears again. They had to rename the entire thing, but it is part of the series.

As for the question, Star Fox 2! They had the game 80% done when Nintendo walked in and said "we are dismantling the team". The aspects of the game than made it into small titles like Star Fox 64 and Super Mario 64 but Star Fox 2 never saw the light of day.

Also Sims Ville. If anyone played the first Sims games when they came out (within a year of release) you got a little video for a full game called Sims Ville. What it was was the theory of Sims mixed with Sim City. In the game you could manage everything in the town, from how much training the police department got to the items on the selves of the shops and the price of those items. The town could grow and change all depending on how you designed it. If you planted a porno shop next to the theatre and a booze store the theatre would start showing worse and worse movies, until it just showed skin flix.

What happened is that Wil Wright came in and started taking the game apart and throwing everything into The Sims for expansions. It was still never the same as what was annouced but we did end up getting something kind of like it with Sim City Societies, but that doesn't have the same level of micromanagement.
