Can you smell it? The NHL is back.

What exactly is your avatar, roach? It seems familiar but is too squished to figure out.

It's Klaus Kinski's character from the Werner Herzog film, "Fitzcarraldo".

I might make a topic some day about the insanity of Klaus Kinski (who has been deceased for a while now).

Good ol' Chris Walken, what a guy..

Fitzcarraldo's about a guy (Kinski) who wants to build an opera house in the middle of the Peruvian jungle. Basically. O__o

Released around 1982. The making of the movie is legendary. In the movie, they need to move a steam ship to another river system. Well, they decide to drag it over a few hills with the help of many a Peruvian native. So instead of building models or making a fake steam ship, they attempt to drag a real one up a hill. The engineer involved quit because he was convinced the steel cables would snap and cut a bunch of people in half!

The short answer is no. It was either it became too dangerous to continue doing it the way they were doing it, or it was becoming impossible with the manpower they had. I know they eventually used a bulldozer or something to help push it along.
