On Tuesday night, two 18 year old men from relatively wealthy homes (both were driving Mercedes-Benz) were engaged in a street race on one of Toronto's older main streets. A cab-driver, trying to make a left turn was killed when one of the racers t-boned him. The other racer fled.

Apparently, a copy of "Need for Speed" was found in one of the cars.

Thoughts?

idiots who think they're invincible. It reminds me of problems in the 80's and 90's. Every time something came out in a movie, some idiot takes it to the extreme. Remember when base-jumping spawned a lot of idiots trying to jump off of skyscrapers or bridges and winding up as street-pizza? Or the school shootings by kids in trench coats?

if they were playing it in the car, I can understand how it was there. If not, then it does sound like a plant. (once I was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic next to two dudes watching porn. It was really awkward since all of my inlaws were there too.)

Have the people who blamed NFSU for this accident ever thought, just for one second, that it might not be that NFSU makes dangerous drivers, but that dangerous drivers like NFSU? Correlation does not mean causation, folks. Street racers and other driving fools are probably also guys who buy into street racing games. It doesn't mean street racing games create these kinds of people.

But that's the mainstream media for you folks...if you want good press on video games, then look for alternative press. (BTW, I was the one who wrote the letter being answered in that advice column.)

right. and after watching Braveheart, I had the urge to put on a kilt and lead a revolution. Then I heard there were guys in California wearing skirts and leading protests, so I changed my mind.

Looks like somebody at the Toronto police actually gets it. They're not pursuing using Need for Speed as a scapegoat for this crash. Good for them for actually coming up with an iota of sense.

Gotta love the bad press.........They could have found a # of things in that car.........But the minute they see the video game, it's like, F*** it....Case solved........now lets go out and wait for the "Hot and fresh Doughnuts: sign to come on...........hahaaha

They probably found 5 heroine needles and 4 ounces of pot. But those are legal so they had to blame video games.
