A study published by the American Psychological Association found that children who play video games may be improving their learning, health, and social skills by doing so. While playing video games may lead to negative effects such as addiction, depression, or aggression, recent studies point out that playing video games may improve a child's spatial navigation, reasoning, and memory. In fact, researchers found this to be specifically true in shooter-type games. Improved creativity as well as problem solving were other skills attributed to video game play. As far as social skills are concerned, researchers pointed out that video gamers have friends who they regularly play with, whether it be with friends online and/or in person.
