sony kills itself

then everyone gets the "Oh, it ONLY $250. Let's get one!" mentality. I know a kid that had gotten his ears pierced (actually a small gauge). I saw his mom was about to kill him, so I said "Hey Matt, show her your tongue." Thinking that her 14yr old son (who had been assisted by a friend that worked at a tattoo parlor) had gotten his tongue pierced too. She nearly blew her top until he stuck out his unpunctured tongue. Then she was relieved that ONLY his ears had been pierced.

It's a perspective thing.

By the way, i got my info. from Attack on the Show on G4.....The Sony spokesman said the price and that "it will include an all new updated Blu-Ray Drive"......:fire:Oh, what do you know, there's that word Blu-Ray again:fire:.....if they are justifying the purchasing of the PS3 with that slogan, i gotta bigger boots 'cause it's getting deep in here......Tell me why i would pay for one piece of equipment, when i payed just as much for my the rest of my audio/video equipment put together....Would the PS3 compliment all my equipment??.....I doubt it, unless they include the HD cables, the digital audio cable, and all the other components that take gaming viewing and listening better......But, hey, what do i know??!!??

dont forget the PS3 is going to be about $800.

EDIT: Forgot to add my source!

i'M GOING TO STATE THIS HERE SO THAT I MIGHT GET CERDIT FOR IT. Being as though my frineds never ppl never beleive me. ( I told the fools the PS3 would release in NOv.) the PS3 will be for $500. And yes it will include the HDD. Sony has stated the the system will come with the HDD. and $500 is not bad high but resaonable. If you break down the prce it sume out right New PS3 jus as playing games could run for $200. the HDD $100 easy. But the kicker is that th Blu-Ray will avarge out to $200. These are sony made products. Not to mention that all company lose money on each system sell. It's like McDonalds. They dont make money on the burgers but the extra stuff and the super size that ppl get. So for evry game accesory they sell the better off for them. it sound like bull but the PS2 came out for $300 alone no game nothin just the system. But The fact that they will release only 1 million systems worlwide at lanuch is foolish and they might lose this concel war for this holiday season. Nintendo and Xbox have a better chance of out selling the PS3 just by Price and availability. For every sold out PS3 at a store. Mommy will either buy a 360 or A Rev to satisfy the kid at christmas. And thats FACT JACK

Wrong Wrong $500 if the try for six it wont sell really. Sony will lose big time on sales. Cuz be honest who can really afford that. I spent $650 on my 360 and i got a lot for it. Tru i will try to get one but i'll end up spending up ward to $750. FOR A FUCKIN MACHINE AND GAMES. $500 is high but reasonable. true they may lose money or if they go lower they will lose more. but if its at a resonable price they will make up for it due to the fact that they can sell more accessories. $600 is bull. $400 is to cheap $500 is just right.

Yeah...I mean, if somebody is already willing to spend $500 for the PS3, instead of just paying $400 for the 360 or $200 (maybe) for the Revolution...then they're probably going to be willing to spend $600...

thunderking we are not having this argument again. You know My Aunt jackie will not buy nile a PS3 if its $600 Kamau wont Buy Ralphy a PS3 for $600. You know this. If its $600 we will try to get one but think of this its gonna hurt our Rev money. We have to real here when did you get your PS2 when the price droped right. and tru places like gamestop allow you to reserve the system in advance but thats only for ppl who do that and know how it work we do ex gamestop emplyees. but the truth is that there are ppl who dont know what reserving is. So at a $600 price point ppl will turn away from it for the more cheaper 360 os Rev. $600 is alot to ask of a consumer. plus f all ther gonna give me is a contorller and a hardive. I want more for my buck dont care what they give me but offer somethin.

Why do you think they have PRE-ORDER. A true gamer will always find a way to get his/her gaming fix. And if PS3 comes out at $600 you me and every one who needs there new games will find a way to get it. DEVIL MAY CRY 4/METAL GEAR SOLID 4/KILLZONE 2

Whatever. I'm serious I want one bad real bad. But you forget all the thing s i'm tryin to do and want to do. We are greddy. So there is NO WAY IN HELL THAT I'M NOT GONNA WANT BUY DMC4 OR MGS4. You know that if you get a game then i'll boroow it from you. but come on we both reserved copies of Killzone and DMC4 and that cost us $150. So the system will cost yous another $600 sorry E but I think i might pass on the PS3 and dont forget the units that will be out. Remember dud the PS3 is goning out around the time of the Rev. and thats bought and paid for regardless. Getting the PS3 for $750 will hurt our pockets for Rev titles. We got Bills and cars and other thing to worry about.

Like we don't have connections to get us a PS3 when it debuts! And I bring this up again PRE-ORDER where you don't have to pay all at once.I payed my Zelda off months ago. If you put like $50 every pay check you'll have it paided off when it debuts.

What ever Pre Order or not. i'll say this CAR, BILLS, AND Other things we want to do this summer. not mentionjust random things to buy. FOOL YOU GET FORGETING THAT WE HAVE TO PRE-ORDER OUR REV ALSO AND THE GAMES. We are talkin about spending at least $1100 buy November. Dude We gotta get a car. games are important to me but haveing a way to make that money comes first. Regardless of how we will get one. its about the money I really dont think I can get it. And NO I WILL NOT GIVE UP THE 360 This time. But will wait till E3 to find out the price. If i'm right and it is $500 we need to bet on it. Who ever is right has to buy the others DMC4

I have to weigh in on this, because aside from Video Games, I've worked in business journalism as well. Sony has the muscle and the talent to continue their reign as the 800 pound gorilla, but they are more vulnerable than usual at this time.

Last year, Sony as a corporation lost about a $1 billion (it came down some after accounting adjustments, but it was a large loss). Though Sony Computer Enterainment of America, the PlayStation branch, is treated largely as a separate and singular entity, their cash flow will be monitored closely.

Now it's true that consoles do not, in and of themselves, make money. Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony all lose money on each unit. BUT, there is only so much they can lose per unit before it becomes unbearable (Microsoft's cash reserves in this case makes it formidable). Sega lost nearly $200 per unit during sales of the Dreamcast, and that forced them out of the business entirely. Sony, meanwhile, is proposing to sell a console that includes a Blu-Ray player that this summer will retail for over $1000 on its own. If they include an HDD, selling a console for $500 or lower may actually hemorrhage the electronics giant.

Sure, a $600 system that will be incredibly scarce during the holiday season will still sell to the hardcore early adopters, but if that price point remains after the holidays, a lot of people in the States, the casual shoppers and less-than-hardcore gamers Sony will have to reach once again, will find a hard time justifying such a purchase particularly if things like fuel and consumer prices remain at record levels during the summer. Nintendo, offering a less-expensive alternative to either next-gen platform, may reap a small bump in its market share come this Winter.

In essence, I think Sony will continue to hold the number 1 market share when its all said and done, but it'll be a harsher, pit-fight between it and Microsoft this time around. Capitalism is as much a marathon as a baseball season is, so only time will truly tell.

Post Script: It will also be helpful if Sony avoids the glitchy, hardware problems the 360 had this past winter, but that may be asking a lot since Sony has a loooong reputation of putting together shoddy hardware components (both my first PS1 and PS2 purchases had to be returned because of an irreparable Disc Read Error).

Sounds about right, Scribe. It's going to be a much tougher pit-fight. Sony doesn't have all their eggs in one basket, though, Sega didn't have the other income of other industries to back it up. Sony does. Albeit their pockets don't run as deep as Billie-bob Gates.

Yeah, Sega was only bailed out because their CEO actually kept it afloat using over $500 million of his own personal assets (I wonder if Jeff Skilling would have done such a thing, heh). Sony should be okay, but if I have to pay $3.50 a gallon of gas this summer, I'm not going to be able to save up much cash to pay for a $500 or a $600 console that easily. And I'm not gonna be the only one in that boat.
