Sleeper games

Probally Jet Grind Radio for the Dreamcast. Noone made any buzz about it until it came out. Then critics went crazy over it. Still never saw a commercial for it tho.

But the reason that Steel Battalion didnt sell that many was because they released it in very limited quantities. They made like...less than a million of them. Kind of like Suikoden 2.

but you can't really even accurately compare worldwide sales figures, and sleeper hits in Japan vs America. I mean, GTA and Halo are sleeper hits in Japan.

JGR/JSR, etc...

I loved Jet Grind Radio (or Jet Set Radio, as I played it) ;-) I love JSRF too, but not as much as the first - maybe it's just that it wasn't a brand new concept the second time around.

Also, Power Stone, for the DC and Power Stone 2 - those games rule.

The Buffy games on the Xbox I also liked - the graphics are horribly, but they have fairly solid gameplay, and are fun. (of course maybe being a Buffy fanatic influenced my opinion on these ones).

Also, Illbleed was very very weird, but strangely addictive. Though not without problems, I really enjoyed this game and had to finish it.

oh yeah, power stone 2, i remember enjoying that game a lot. Wasn't there an anime based on that game too?

what about chaos legion? that's like devil may cries younger brother that everybody ignores

I have played 8 eyes, but never really got too far. It was unique playing co-op with one person being the falcon. I am blanking on its name.

Yeah the power Stone games are sleepers. Another Saturn sleeper was Last Bronx. I love that game, and the anime intro had me from the getgo.

I think someone (maybe me) refered to Breakdown already, but I have to mention it again. I'm now at the last boss fight in Breakdown, and I must say this game is very close to a masterpiece. I think the story is very smart & clever. The controls could be better and jumping levels in FPSs is a no-no to me, but the game is just so damn cool it hurts. Its freaky and stylish, and I love it to death. Breakdown is definitely a sleeper.

ooh i just thought of one, even though i haven't played it yet, but i've watched somebody else play. Killer 7!

yeah it's on rails, blah blah blah, i don't care, this game wins major points for style alone.

I've been wanting to play Killer 7, but a lot of reviews weren't that good so I wasn't going to get it at full price. My local sucky Blockbuster doesn't carry it so I guess I'll have to get it, now that its fallen into the bargain bin.
