There have always been, and always will be, stereotypes in games (and stories, movies, TV, etc). But haven't they become a little boring? A white or black Marine shooting up aliens, for instance. What would make for a fresh stereotype?

(remember to play nice, kiddies)

How about instead of making 95% of female villains whip wielding tight leather clad hussies we make them look like Martha Stewart?

You know you want to blow Martha's head off with a sawed off shotgun, admit it.

PS Bob Ross rules!

I don't think one can plot-out a "fresh" stereotype... they sort of just happen over time as people endlessly re-establish them in movies and books... :cookiemon

But, if I get to decide... How about we make a push for "Hard as nails marines that are ALSO hookers with hearts of gold and who ALSO are ethnic, gang-banger types?" Now there's a character!

How about an Asian English Major? When I was in school there were about 5 of us, and the other four were girls.

Or, some changes to standard Western RPGs. A Halfling cleric where stealing is against his religion, a friendly yet quiet Dwarven mage, and a female, elven Barbarian.

I'd also like to see a Japanese RPG without a 1) Darkly introspective metrosexual with impossible hair 2) a spunky teenage hero whose heart is bigger than his talent and 3) teenage female heroines in schoolgirl-type miniskirts and irritatingly high, piping voices.

haha, good ones. How about a take on the movie Office Space and have computer geeks and cubicle-bound nobodies? Or a superhero who transforms from a mild-mannered Mexican guy whose day job is cutting grass? Or a cab driver from India?

Heheh, i can see it all now... the most super-powerful weapon in the game: Orange Stapler.

Actually, it would be a red Swingline Stapler (+2). Oddly enough, Swingline didn't make a red stapler until the movie 'Office Space' came out. Afterwards, they kept getting requests for the color and the rest is boring, manufacturing history.
