So I know a few of the guys here play the guitar. I've also hit up more than a few of you to help me find some interesting things. So I'm feeling we should have a music thread. Whether it's listening to music or playing it, post up.

What do you guys think about the new Guitar Hero/Rock Band games? I'm gonna give The Beetles a try just because I've never really listened to them, and I wanna see what all the fuss is about.

Also is anyone interested in DJ Hero? It looks like it has some potential, but I can't keep dumping all my money into these music games. I might have to wait a few months after it's released so I can get it for a reduced price if the reviews are good.

I got GH5. You can read my review. Twitter summary would be "Otherwise solid game is made terribly inferior to Rock Band b/c of shitty import feature."

I'm getting The Beatles. I never really listened to them either, but they're sooooooooooo important to the music industry.

So I've played The Beatles a little, and I'd definitely give the game a thumbs up. I was surprised by how many of their songs I really liked (even though I guess you gotta be high for most of them to make sense). One gripe I have with the limited time I've spent with the game is I do wish there were more songs in the game, but I supose you have to hold some of them back to squeeze more money out of the gamers with DLC.

The standard for non-main series games is 45, and it has just that many. You can chug through it in a day, but still.

I also wasn't too acquainted with The Beatles as a band, but playing through their songs I really didn't get especially enchanted with them. A few of the songs are quite good, but still. The thing for me was that none of their songs were unbeatable. I'm not really a great GH/RB player and I just chugged through it like nothing.

I played through the whole game of Beatles: Rock Band. My only complaint is the same complaint I had with all Rock Band games- its just a little too easy.
That being said I would totally play it all over again rather than play GH5. GH5 isn't bad mind you- i just don't care anymore. maybe Ill care more next month when the next batch of GH games comes out. /sarcasm.

anyways if you're looking for some good guitar music, I know a few great Japanese bands. Ryo Owatari from Do as Infinity is a great guitarist- they did most the music for Inu Yasha (shit show but great soundtrack) the majority of their stuff is pop but the few rock songs they have are great. Also he loves to do ridiculous covers

The Beat Crusaders is one of my favorite bands. just great music all around. They did the music for the show Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. they mostly sing in English, despite being from Japan. They've got a really cool/weird style about them.

Then theres the Pillows who are fantastic. Im pretty sure they want to be the Japanese equivilent to the Beatles

Yeah I've heard discussions about the difficulty of the game. I didn't mind that it was a little easier because I enjoyed the music so much, but I can understand a lot of gamers maybe wanting more challenge.
