Final Fantasy Tactics

FFTA is one of the best GBA games. While I didn't play very far into the original, I can say that I like FFTA better than the PSOne version. I enjoyed the link mode as well.

And as previously stated, Tactics Ogre has always been a favorite of mine. I played the hell outta the PSOne game (which was originally on SNES in Japan) and enjoyed my time with the GBA version. I feel that the Tactics Ogre series does have a more involving story line, although FFTA was well done as well. If you grow weary of FFT, I highly suggest playing Tactics Ogre... that is if you can find a copy of these games... they are quite rare.

and speaking of Tactics games, let's hear some more news of Vandel Hearts for DS... Yeah, I'm talking to you Konami!

Ogre Battle for the SNES was my first tactical RPG. Then next was probably Vandal Hearts for the PS1. That game was pretty awesome in a way and I remember it being pretty tough.

I haven't had the chance to play any Tactics Ogres except Knight of Lodis on the GBA, which was fun and had a cool story, but didn't have a deep job system. Still good stuff, I think.

Wow, awesome thread. Glad to find a few other gamers who loved tactics as much as me.

Basically, spudlyff8fan (and roach) said everything that I wanted to say. I LOVED the narrative, despite its localization issues. I vividly remember playing Tactics and being blown away by the epic story... Delita's uprising from peasant, all of the political manipulations and back stabbings, and Ramza leading a small force to uncover the truth. I loved how the true Zodiac Brave story was clouded, until that astronomer that Ramza met (can't remember his name- you saved him on top of that snowy tavern.. Olan maybe?) recorded the true story of how Ramza overthrew the "god" that you were meant to worship, St. Ajoris (?) or Altima? (sorry about the names, guys.. it's been awhile). Regardless, it's funny how people's perceptions differ.

I also loved the music, especially the intro movie (have it on mp3!), and I agree about the animation... It helped deliver the narrative and was done exquisitely well for little 2D sprites.

And I loved Vandal Hearts by the way. It had more playable main characters than tactics, and some would argue that its story was more focused. (2 left something to be desired)... but don't get me wrong. Tactics is still my baby!

Spud- I loved suikoden 1 and 2 also... I take it those are also favorites of yours?
