New stuff also added to the Guide, here it is, though:

HOW TO MAINTAIN A FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM-

Here are some important things to consider now that we have a team.

1) Who am I giving up? Teams always require balance. They always require a decent QB, at least two RBs guaranteed a solid amount of game time, two WRs who are stand a chance at getting to the end zone, a TE who's probably going to get a catch or two, and so on. You'll need backups, and you'll need options for a successful fantasy team. So, when parting with players, you must strongly consider what that player's role is to your team. Are you losing a starter? Are you losing a back up? Is this person really expendable? Before trading or dropping that player, strongly consider whether you can keep a strong team with that player absent.

2) Who am I getting? Are you just getting another WR who's only going to be on your lineup half the time? Do you already have a strong lineup in that position on your team? These are both important questions.

3) Is the player I'm getting or losing consistent? Let's compare two receivers: Santana Moss and Chad Johnson. In the 2005 season, both players received 126.00 and 127.25 points respectively. However, game-by-game, they were very different players. Chad Johnson would typically get 80-100+ yards per game, and more than half the time would get a touchdown. He is a consistent player. Santana Moss, on the other hand, is not a consistent player. Looking at his weeks 14-17, he had 372 yards (93 yards per-game average) and 3 TDs. These are very nice numbers however, when you look at them game-by-game, it's a very different story. In week 16, Moss got 160 yards and all three of those TDs, and 160 yards (getting 56, 73 and 83 yards with no TDs in the other games). How does this relate to your team? Well, when you're rolling a die on each WR, you'll very rarely turn up a good roll. Meaning, you don't want two inconsistent wide receivers, because their good games rarely synch up.

4) Is there anybody else I could get? Be a bargain hunter. It's always tempting to trade for a high-tier WR or RB, but there's always somebody else you could pick up. Always look through the Free Agents list. Players will be on hot streaks. Players will prove to be a sleeper hit. Players will replace an injured or rehabbing player, giving them high fantasy value for a few weeks. So before you go trading off somebody, look around for alternatives.

5) Is the player injury-prone? Some players run a very high risk of injury. It's just a fact of football. Sometimes it's predictable, sometimes it is. Javon Walker's (DEN, WR) 2005 season ended in the first quarter of his first game, after a great 1382 yard, 12 TD season. This was just terrible luck for Walker owners, since he had two full seasons in a row. The other end of the spectrum is the chronically injured. Fred Taylor (RB, JAX) is the opposite. In his 8 seasons, he's only played 16 games in two of these seasons. Meaning he, in all likelihood, will miss a game, or two, or six, or (in 2001) fourteen. So, be wary of this. And never forget: Age brings injury. NOTE: This is typically reflected to some degree in tier lists.

6) Never mistake skill for performance. Brett Favre was a great player in 1997. He is not now. Mushin Muhammad was (debatably) one of the most skillful receivers in the league in 2005. However, he only averaged 50 yards per game, and had only 4 TDs that season. He was a great player. But had almost no fantasy value. Never mistake the two.

7) Don't over-value your favorite players. Just don't do it. Should a Bengals fan trade Tiki Barber (NYG, RB) for TJ Houshmandzadeh (CIN, WR)? Hell. No. Keep the question "who do I love more?" out of your head when maintaining, or drafting, your team.

Yeah. That's all important stuff.
