What are you playing these days?

Last weekend I went oldschool and fired up my virtual XP to play through the two episodes of an old rogue-like rpg called Castle of the Winds. I used to play it when I was a kid and I thought I'd go for a little nostalgic trip.

    Contractual agreement...

Sigh I really tried to think hard and objectively about what game was best to play forever, but I really just can't get Skyrim out of my mind. It was a very good experience for me. However, I would ask Mr. Burns unlimited access to Nexus mods and other mods for Skyrim before agreeing.

Is there any noticeable difference between i5 and i7?

Fair point. You can't really upgrade your laptop processor from i5 to i7. However, it much easier to upgrade from an HDD to an SSD even on a laptop.

Is there any noticeable difference between i5 and i7?

I don't know if you'll agree to this, but the first time I got an SSD I just got the 128gb one. It's served me pretty well so far. I would love a 256gb one, but as you say, it's still too expensive.

Is there any noticeable difference between i5 and i7?

Faster booting, longer life due to non-moving parts, no idle state (notice that when you don't use your desktop for a long time and when you open a folder the HDD makes a sound like it's revving up? SSD doesn't do that), less chance of your files getting corrupted because of power outages...

Is there any noticeable difference between i5 and i7?

If I were to choose between an i5 or i7 I'd go with the i5 only because it's cheaper. There's not much noticeable difference really. If I were to choose between an SSD and HDD I'd go for the SSD, even with it having a higher price. I'm a sucker for lightning fast boots.

    What if?

I would be optimistic and say yes. I've completed Skyrim on a hardcore, no-death, no loading gamesaves mode. I also put in some immersion mods like the ones where you need to dress for colder weather, the one where you have to eat and sleep, where you need to build a fire to survive camping out...

    What are your Specs?

i5 3450 8gb dual channel RAM 128gb intel SSD, 2x500gb HDD, 7200rpm Radeon HD 5770 --- my only weakness :( asrock z77 extrreme 4 MOBO I'm hoping to get a new GPU this year. I'm still torn on whether to pay for a single cutting edge expensive one, or two legacy, less expensive ones to SLI or...

    Sims 4

What? Sims isn't a girl's game. More specifically, it's not a gender specific game in any sense or form. I used to play Sims a lot when I was younger. It was very enjoyable. It's just like sim city but with people. It's just like any isometric rpg game like diablo, but without monsters and...

    Do you play Emulator games?

Yes. I play them on my PC using a controller. It's much easier than playing with the keyboard and mouse. I also play those old NeoGeo and MAME games very often and it's so much fun to able to play a lot of games readily.

    Types of gamers

Based on my performance on Diablo 2 alone I'll proudly say that I'm (or was) a hardcore gamer. You don't get to lvl 91 as a barbarian without master grinding and performing super jukes. Barbarians in D2 are notoriously weak on Hell.

One Game You're Most Addicted To?

It will have to be a tie between Modded Skyrim and the Complete edition of Civilization V. Both of these games have so much gameplay and replay value that I think I wasted a couple of years playing these two games alone. I've since taken a hiatus from Skyrim and I'll be upgrading my PC first...

    Most Annoying Video Game Character

I've got one: the Lakitu. It's the koopa riding on a cloud on the super mario bros. game. It always annoyed me more that any other video game character out there. Even more than the adoring fan from TES Oblivion.

    Whats your favorite FPS ever?

Either the Half-Life Series or the Dishonored Series with full DLCs. Both have AMAZING story lines and offer the best fps experience in my opinion. Particularly in Dishonored, you are treated to a unique style of gameplay that is absolutely fun and immersive.

    Making Your Own Games

I've definitely considered making games of my own. So much so in fact that I started learning Python since it's a great coding platform for games. It's used in games like Legend of Grimrock, for example. Learning to code is admittedly very hard but I think I'm making some progress. I hope I can...

Do you trade in old games or sell them?

I've never tried selling my old cartridges before.I don't know if we have any trade shops in our area. I have a lot of old SNES cartidges and PC titles for the 90's. Maybe I should try looking into it.

    Android or iOS?

Power users like myself want a customizable phone as much as possible. I'm not averse to learning all the tricks and trades for operating Androids and want to get to know my device intimately. I vote Android.

Steam surpasses 9 million concurrent users

Sub-par console tech, graphics, and 'exclusive titles' coupled with high prices will naturally drive consumers into more low-cost alternatives. PC gaming is getting cheaper by the day, and most decent PC builds can actually outperform consoles today.

Did you play in a computer lab?

Definitely. Someone manages to intall Starcraft 1 on our computers back then and we would play multiplayer through LAN. I still remember the old CRTs.
