My kid lost my 3DS a while back :(

and I haven't really been in the scene since. I recently bought a wii U though, and I noticed that the 3DS can be used as a controller for super smash bros. Is it worth it to get another for that kind of functionality? Could I get it instead of another controller and see other games that are able to use the 3DS with the wii U? Are there any new games that justify buying yet another 3DS?

The 3DS is absolutely worth buying again, though not for a Smash Bros controller. There are so many good games on the 3DS, but I would wait until the 'new' 3DS is released in February before buying one.
