So I'm bored one day and hopping around the internet, and I come across a Dead or Alive site that talks about the story. So I decide "hmm, I think I'll look up the DOA story!" And of course, I put together the story, in and out...more or less.

DOA1- Raidou attacks the Hanjinmon Ninja Clan where Ayane, Hayate and Kasumi live and draws Hayate into a fight and forces him to use the Torn Sky Blast (Raidou goes around and steals techniques from other Ninja), learns it, then hits Hayate so hard he flies back and breaks his back, which cripples him. Kasumi gets pissed off by this and vows to kill Raidou by challenging him in Fame Douglas' (who is pretty much the leader of the world) Dead or Alive fighting tournament. When Genra, Ayane's foster father and one of the leaders of the clan, learns of this he sends Ayane to go kill Kasumi. Ayane is the half sister of Hayate and Kasumi, her father is Raidou (who is Kasumi and Hayate's uncle) who raped Ayame (Kasumi and Hayate's mom), and because everyone hated Raidou when he left, they all, except Genra, disliked Ayane, but still loved Kasumi, which caused Ayane to spite Kasumi.

On the other branch of the story is DOATEC (Dead or Alive Tourney Executive Committee). This group is headed by Fame Douglas, who has two known children, Helena and Kokoro (the new girl from DOA4). Douglas begins Project Epsilon, a series of genetic engineering and mind programming, and needs a subject, at which point he takes the crippled Hayate from the Hanjinmon and cure his paralysis, but wipe his memory. Ryu Hayabusa finds out that both his best friend and Kasumi are missing, and tracks Kasumi down to the DOA tournament, and enters to return her to the Hanjinmon.

The winners were...

Kasumi (wins it all, kills Raidou, but still forced out of the Hanjinmon)
Ayane (beaten by Kasumi)
Zack (doesn't win, but gets a big wadd of cash)
Bayman (doesn't even really fight in the tournament, but successfully plants a knife into the top of Fame Douglas' head, so he's the real winner)

The losers were...

Gen Fu (entered to get the money to treat his granddaughter's terminal illness, but loses in the tourney)
Bass (entered to stop Tina from trying to become a model, but gets beaten by his daughter)
Lei Fang (entered to beat Jann Lee, but doesn't)
Raidou (he's dead)

DOA2- With Fame Douglas very dead, pretty much the whole world is in trouble and to make it worse, Tengu, some insane, crazy and seemingly magical superhuman is causing mass chaos and killing by the thousands. Ayane returns to the Hanjinmon to discover that Hayate is missing, but knows DOATEC has something to do with it, and sets out to look into this and find him. In the meantime, Ryu learns of all the death and destruction being caused by Tengu, and decides that it is his duty to stop him.

Donovan, a DOATEC employee, succeeds Fame Douglas as the head of DOATEC and begins project Omega, where they once again attack the Hanjinmon clan and capture the strongest of their soldiers available, Genra, to create a new bioweapon. Donovan is somewhat fearful of one of Fame Douglas' surviving children may decide to try and succeed him as head of DOATEC, so he orders the assassination of Helena. While performing, Helena (a French Opera Singer) is almost shot by a sniper, but is saved by her mother who takes the bullet for her. Helena figures out that the attempt on her life must be connected to Donovan, and teams up with Fame Douglas' old pal, Gen Fu, to try and confront Donovan over this. The same assassin is ordered to also kill Bayman, who knows too much about Donovan. The assassination attempt fails, and Bayman also figures out that Donovan is attempting to kill him. He does NOT take this well. And Donovan's bad luck continues when Hayate escapes from the DOATEC facility and finds his way to Germany, where he apprentices under Hitomi's father, and quickly becomes a black belt.

During the tournament, DOATEC once again attacks the Hanjinmon Ninjas and successfully captures their strongest member at the time, Genra, beginning project Omega and also jumpstarting Project Alpha.

The winners were...

Hayabusa (wins the tournament, and story-wise, absolutely and EASILY kills Tengu)
Zack (once again ranks highly in the tournament and gets another wadd of cash)
Gen Fu (ranks in the tournament and gets the money to treat his granddaughter's illness)
Ein/Hayate (gets his memories back)

The losers were...

Tengu (gets beaten and killed by Hayabusa)
Kasumi (loses to Hayabusa, and remains a vagrant with no home)
Jann Lee (also loses to Hayabusa)
Helena (loses in the tournament and gets held captive by Donovan in the DOATEC brig)

DOA3- Though Hayabusa successfully kills Tengu, Tengu successfully forms a blackening cloud over the whole planet, darkening the world. Ayane once again returns to the Hanjinmon to discover somebody's missing. She learns of what has happened to Genra, that he has been captured and broken by DOATEC and enters the tournament to euthanize him. Hayate joins her. And Kasumi joins to reunite with Hayate.

Helena is offered her freedom if and only if she can win the DOA tournament. She obviously agrees, and Donovan assigns Christie to follow her, and kill her if she tries to escape or loses the tournament.

In the end, Ayane wins the tournament, and kills Genra. She feels bad about doing it, but knows it needed to be done. She takes his mask and sword. Hayate is now the overall leader of the Hanjinmon Ninja Clan.

The winners were...

Ayane (wins it all)
Zack (ONCE AGAIN places in the top of the tournament, wins a big wadd of money, goes to Las Vegas, wins even MORE money, buys Zack Island, and then DOA Volleyball happens)
Hitomi (Places high in the tournament and ends up saving her father's dojo, which was in need of money)

The losers were...

Bayman (he ends up being chased out of the tournament by Donovan's soldiers)
Helena (loses in the tournament, but isn't killed)
Kasumi (gets beaten by Ayane)

I'll do DOA4 later....

Wow, when you research something you really research it. But, it's cool to know the history. I think all fighting games should make it obvious, like in DoA4, as to who the real winner is. In DoA4 Helena's ending is the last one you can get, it's longer, the most dramatic, and her avatar is the biggest. So everyone clearly knows she is the winner.

DOA4- The tourney begins once again, however this time, Hayate, Hayabusa and Ayane have a plan to attack the DOATEC Tower and kill Donovan to avenge Genra and get payback for what they did to Hayate. All the usuals join, along with Kokoro (the new girl who is actually one of Fame Douglas' illegitimate children, making her Helena's half-sister), Elliot (one of Gen Fu's students who wants to gauge his abilities in relation to Gen Fu, though Gen Fu doesn't actually enter the DOA4 tournament) and La Mariposa/Lisa (who has some unmentioned connection to DOATEC, and spent some timewith the other DOA ladies in XBV). There's also the Spartan, but she's not really part of the plot. Hitomi's father became very ill, and though he was cured, their dojo is once again financially troubled, so she joins the DOA tournament both to get money to help the dojo, and to tell Hayate (who she still thinks is Ein) what has happened. Tina joins to gain fame so she can become a rock star, and Bass joins to stop her. Bayman joins so he can kill Christie and Donovan. Helena joins to kill Donovan. Zack Island is hit by a monsoon, and sinks to the bottom of the ocean, leaving him millions of dollars in debt, so he joins to get more money, but decides that he can become quite famous by climbing to the top of the DOATEC Tritower. Jann Lee joins for a rematch against Hayabusa. Lei Fang joins for a rematch against Jann Lee. And Brad Wong is getting drunk and looking for a magical brew.

Ok, so the first few rounds go by, there's some fighting, but then all Zack makes a mad dash for the tower, Bayman and Helena make a mad dash for Donovan, Ayane/Ryu/Hayate make a mad dash to the base of the tower, Kasumi and Hitomi make a mad dash for Hayate, Christie makes a mad dash for the top of the tower to protect Donovan. Jann Lee makes a mad dash for Hayabusa, Lei Fang makes a mad dash for Jann Lee, Elliot makes a mad dash for Lei Fang, Leon makes a mad dash for Bayman, and everyone else just kinda goes with the flow for the purpose of having an arcade mode that would allow for all the characters to be included.

Along the way, Bayman fights Helena, loses, and gets captured by DOATEC, and gets locked in the brig. Hitomi fights with Hayate, and loses, Jann Lee fights with Hayabusa, and loses. Ayane and Kasumi both head for the bottom of the DOATEC tower. Ayane begins to cast a powerful ninjutsu that would destroy the foundation of the tower, while Kasumi fights, and beats, Alpha-152 (the end result of Project Alpha, which was done by copying Kasumi in DOA2). Bayman is able to escape in the chaos.

Meanwhile, Helena is climbing the tower, and gets confronted by Christie, and Helena finds out that she is the one who killed her mother, so they fight, and Helena wins. Helena fights her way to the top of the tower, and then gets all depressed-like, and plans on going down with the tower. Then....ZACK SAVES THE DAY BY HIJACKING A CHOPPER!!! And in all likelihood, has a nice front-seat date with Helena (well, maybe not, but he does save her).

The winners are...

Ryu/Hayate/Ayane/Kasumi- They take down the DOATEC tower successfully.
Helena- Makes it to the top of the tower, and beats (maybe kills) Christie.
Zack- He saves the day, and he's been a winner in every other game, so why not this one?

The losers are...

Bayman- Losing to Helena and getting captured? I'm disappointed. (I play as Bayman)
Hitomi (maybe)- Hayate may or may not have eventually returned to Germany with her, but either way, she lost.
Jann Lee- Loses again to Hayate.
Brad Wong- He gave up the hooch in DOA3, but gets back on it in DOA4. Apparently winning is his anti-drug. Too bad he loses.
Christie- She's dead, maybe. and even so, she loses.
