Way of The Samurai

Playing Way Of The Samurai was a great pleasure just as I thought it would be. Way Of The Samurai had been a smash hit and Japan and thanks to the folks at BAM Entertainment, North American gamers have the ability to play this wonderful game. Way of Samurai is set in the year 1868. The collapse of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the rise of The Meiji Restoration Era have brought an end to the Age of the Samurai. For centuries, Japan has remained untouched and separate from other cultures. But now, Westerners have finally arrived on the island nation, rocking a culture that has developed in seclusion over hundreds of years. In the game, the player takes on the role of wandering samurai who is drawn into a conflict between the Kurou family and Akadama Clan over an iron foundry. As the player meets both sides in the dispute, the player has to make choices to resolve the conflict. Deception and betrayal are key tools for the player but combat is the main aspect which will lead to the deciding factor.

Combat in the game, to be frank, is awesome. The sword is the weapon the player uses and it can be used to do special attacks and so forth. The sword motions are fluid and fast. There are two degrees of sword attacks, lighter ones and stronger ones. Your enemies?f strikes can be blocked, but this is difficult to master which keeps the player yearning to enhance his or her fighting skills. The game offers a selection of swords, all which possess unique attributes. The attributes affect your player by adding values which you may want or not want. Like, some swords are more durable while others give your player more health.

Way of The Samurai offers great graphics. Environments are very real and characters are detailed. Playing the game gives you the feel you?fre in Japan and actual participating in the game. The game really has reality effect.

The game is not very long to finish, but the lasting appeal comes in as during the game you make choices, and those choices lead you throughout different paths and outcomes which really adds a lot of replay value to the game.

The game contains many Key features such as a true multi path adventure. The game changes in relation to your actions. The game features 3D Environments which allow for dramatic battles. Also the game contains over 40 swords which feature 200 unique attacks.

Gameplay:

Takes a while to master and really get familiar with the controls, but once you do, the game handles and acts great. The combat system is great which offers you the ability to attack and block at various degrees.

Graphics:

Great looking environments which give you the feel the game is trying to portray of Japanese culture during the late 1800?fs.

Lasting Appeal:

The game is short to finish, but the ability to make choices which result in different outcomes adds tons and tons of replay value.

Overall:

Overall, Way of the Samurai is an outstanding title. It wasn?ft one of the best selling games in Japan for no reason. With its unique ?gpath-picking?h gameplay to its evolved and hard to master combat system, Way of the Samurai is very entertaining. The game is finely polished with great graphics and original gameplay. Pick this one up for your action and adventure needs!
