This Summer, Return to Monkey Island

Arrrr you ready for the long awaited return of the Monkey Island series? Tell Tale games has the cure for your voodoo zombie pirate blues with chapter 1 of the Tales of Monkey Island series subtitled Launch of the Screaming Narwhal. On sale at their website and through Steam, you can purchase the entire series for $34.95. The rest of the chapters are planned for a monthly release schedule. Help pirate Guybrush Threepwood solve puzzles and get into wacky situations using controls that merge the point and click of Sam and Max series, with the direct character control of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. Chapter 1 of 5 should take players roughly four to five hours to complete. Tell Tale announced plans for a Wiiware release later this year, with XBLA and PSN release a possibility. If you are hankering for more swash buckling fun, or want to dig deeper into Guybrush’s first adventure, you can check out the original Monkey Island game on XBLA. Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition gives the game a much needed graphical upgrade, reworked voiceovers and an updated audio score. Pirate new comer Guybrush Threepwood is tasked with hunting down ghost pirate LeChuck after he kidnaps Melee Island’s governor Elaine Marley. Well developed characters and interesting dialogue bring you to fit’s of laughter in an interesting world originally created by gods of gaming Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. Published by LucasArts and priced at a measly 800 Microsoft points, you can catch up on what made the Monkey Island games some of the best old school adventure titles release in the 90’s.
