The Sims celebrates 5th Anniversary

Electronic Arts announced this morning that its famous [i]Sims[/i] franchise is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month. Taking the nation by storm upon releasing in 2000, [i]The Sims[/i] has spawned seven expansion packs, been translated in over 17 languages and has sold more than 54 million units worldwide.

“The Sims changed the way people play videogames and also changed the kinds of people who play videogames,” said Bing Gordon, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Electronic Arts. “The Sims 2 and its expansion packs will continue to deliver what Sims fans everywhere want — new content, fun and innovation, because The Sims franchise is still just beginning,” Gordon added.

The latest game in the franchise, [i]The Sims 2: University[/i] ships March 1.
