Study: PS3 will win console race

Sony's PS3 hasn't exactly had the most successful of launches. The mega-system's high cost, scarce supply and thin software lineup has caused many to declare an end to Sony's decade long reign over the console wars – not a smart move according to Dublin based research and market study.

According to the datamonitor-sourced study; "The Transforming Global Video Games Market: The Emergence of Next Generation Gaming," nearly 75 million PS3 systems are expected to be sold  worldwide by 2010, a number that will outdo that of of the Xbox 360 and Wii.

While the study did not release hardware projections for Microsoft or Nintendo, the report did say that due to late launch issues, and Microsoft's early lead, the PS3 will not enjoy as large of victory as the PS2, which outsold the competition by a margin of two to one.
