Datel is pumping out new products for the DS like toothpicks at a sawmill.  Besides from their newly released communicator headset, Datel has created the DS’s first multimedia kit.  [p]It is now possible to watch movies, view pictures, and listen to music all via this nifty device.  This media player works with conjunction of the DS card slot and the GBA cartridge slot.  The program is run from the DS’s card slot but all the extras are stored from the GBA cartridge.  [p]A 4GB hard drive plugs into the GBA slot.  Power is drawn directly from the DS so no extra power supplies are needed.  This huge 4GB storage space is enough memory to hold numerous movies, pictures, and mp3’s.  It is also possible to run executables such as homebrew games. [p]The 4GB hard drive is managed through a PC.  A special software CD ROM is included with the package.  This software will not only load up your HD with files, but it also has the ability to convert files into a language that the DS can understand.  This is best for converting movies.  [p]Datel did not announce how the program itself will control on the DS, but it is assumed that the stylus will control most of the functions via a screenshot on their website.  Whether or not the D-pad will be used is not yet known.   [p]Included in the package is the software CD ROM, the 4GD hard drive that plugs into the GBA slot, the DS card that run the program, and a USB 2.0 cable.  The HD is USB 2.0 compatible for high transfer speeds.  [p]The DS now has the same capabilities as the PSP.  The entire package sells for $189.99 and can be purchased from codejunkies.com.
