The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC Review

Last Of Us Left Behind 13845391092099

The game The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which a disastrous plague has ravaged the globe. Survivors of the plague form cities with strict martial law and train the young to kill and combat the infected. Many freelance feral hunters outside these cities fight each other for food and supplies. The main characters of the game are Ellie and Joel, who endure these hunters and cities. The main mission of the game is for Joel to get Ellie to the Fireflies for examination; Ellie is immune to the virus and the Fireflies might be able to develop a vaccine for the plague. The Fireflies are the rebels who go against the martial law cities and believe that there should be democracy instead.

This DLC goes over what happened to Ellie’s best friend Riley and how she died. Then the DLC switches back to what happened in the middle of the original game where Ellie tries to save Joel from a life threating injury. Riley was Ellie’s best friend In Military Boarding school shortly after the attack, Riley later disappears for weeks and then comes back to visit Ellie. The two sneak out of the boarding school and then they do a series of things that forever change them both.

This DLC also brings us the insight and knowledge about The Last of Us that we have been wondering about ever since we have started playing it. The DLC is approximately four hours of gameplay, a generous thing to do for the fans considering that most DLC for a game like The Last of Us is normally half that time. We eventually know what happens to Riley, but we also know how Ellie gets her main characterization. It really disappoints me how Naughty Dog only decided to do one DLC for the game when they could instead make another five or seven depending on which questions needed to be answered and were left out of the main story.

My overall opinion of this DLC is that if you have the money and The Last of Us, then definitely get it. This DLC is so emotionally compelling just as much as the original game. The plot of the DLC is so intriguing and even though you played the main game and you know what happens in this DLC, you will still be surprised on what the outcome is on certain events. This is the first DLC that I played over again in order to get all possible outcomes and achievements earned. I also had to play it over to get more answers to what happened in the original game.
