Kingston Technology has been making data transfer easy with their USB microSD card readers. Never being satisfied, Kingston has now upped the ante one more notch with their new 1gb Mobility Kit.
With this Mobility Kit, users can transfer just about any type of file across multiple platforms. At the heart of the kit is the microSD 1gb card. However, this card can be used by itself, in conjunction with a USB adapter, or attached to a stamp sized microSD adapter. For example, the microSD card can be used by itself in cell phones, or used as a mass storage device within the USB adapter, or can be used with digital cameras through via the microSD adapter. You could snap several pictures with your cell phone camera and save them to the microSD card, pop the card into the USB adapter and add some more pictures through your computer and then slide the card into the microSD adapter to view on a TV screen through your Wii. The Mobility Kit includes everything you’d need for that kind of transfer process.
Selling for about $27.00, transferring data could not be easier and more convenient. The black casing looks pretty sleek and the USB adapter comes with a key ring cord to allow convenient attachment to a key chain or backpack loop.
The only trouble the user may encounter is the removing the microSD card from the USB reader. The card is so small, but fits very tightly, and therefore removing the card not only requires finger nail strength, but also precision. Because of the card’s tiny size (about the size of a pinky finger nail) pulling the unit out feels like a delicate process. But because of the firm fit, a decent amount of force is required to eject the card. The thought of cracking the card never left my mind as I was trying to remove it from this USB adapter.
If you are user of multiple forms electronic gadgetry, this mobility pack will make your life a lot easier. Kingston promises a 2gb model will be available soon as well.
