Kingston microSD 4GB Review

376SquallSnake7

Like all technology, things get faster, smaller and more efficient.  Kingston, always on the cutting-edge of computer accessory technology, has just upped the ante a little more with their new 4GB microSD card.

Mobile phones, digital cameras, and Mp3 players are not only demanding more memory, they also crave speed.  Using a Class 4 speed rating, this new 4GB card should supply users with enough speed and storage space to fill the demand of current day media devices.

With a price tag around $90, the cost is a little more on the expensive side.  But because a 4GB microSDHC card is somewhat new to the market, the price will be a little higher than other cards.   But this microSDHC card also comes with the proper adapters (mini and full size) so the user can also use this card for many other purposes.  And just as a side note, Blackberry, HTC, LG, Nokia, and Motorola are all planning on using this new higher end, higher storage, faster speed technology.

The official Kingston press release promises that this device can store 2,000 images, 1,000 digital music tracks, or about 8 hours of MPEG4 video despite card having the exact same physical size as the 2GB model.  This is true, but any computer geek will tell you these are only guides to follow as every file has different file sizes, meaning you may be able to fit more or less than these numbers.

Unfortunately, the only downfall of this device lies in using the adapters.  Once the SD micro card is inserted into either the mini or full size adapter, they are pain to get out.  I understand that the unit needs to be snug, but I don’t want to feel like I am going to break the card as I try to remove it.  A strong, but delicate finger nail is needed.

Kingston also backs this unit with a lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support, something that competitors do not offer.

Besides removing the unit from the adapter, there really isn’t any other downfall to this Kingston product.  If you are looking for a reliable, large, and speedy storage memory card, look no further than Kingston.

This products get a thumbs up.
