Gorasul

After looking at screenshots and movies of this game it really got me hyped to start doing a hands-on for Gorasul. With four large CDs, there is enough game play in there to last you a lifetime, if you are looking for a real good RPG that will get you hooked for day in and day out then you may want to pick this one up at your favorite gaming outlet. Some of the many features in this game include smooth textures on graphics and special effects. All of these add to the fun of the game. If you really want to try this game before purchasing it then don’t even bother with the movies and try the demo, you will be hooked the moment you start playing.

One small thing to think about when following the dialogue is this game was originally sold in Germany and was all in German so when it came over to the US, every single line of text had to be translated and it’s just a little bit off, but it certainly adds to the medieval flavor of the game.

Underneath this deeply enriched game lies a great engine. The creators obviously used Baldur’s Gate as a model when designing this game. The graphics however are much greater than those found in Baldur’s Gate and the character animations are amazing. You can choose from five different categories to see what your character should specialize in. These five categories are strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, and charisma. There are only two ways to alter these ratings. One of these ways is during the creation process you are given points to begin with and you can distribute them however you want. Also, after every level, you get to pick from a pool of points and assign them to certain attributes of your character.

If this is one of the first RPG games that you have ever played then you should really enjoy it, but if you happen to be a die hard RPG gamer then you may see how this game closely related to several other RPGS in its class. The game starts out with Roszondas (Your character) waking up from a deep sleep. When he finally awakes, his memory is wiped and all he can remember is a decade of fighting daemons and the undead. In the next minutes you find out a bit more about your character and what your mission is. The goal of the game is to wipe out the sinister forces that are invading the land of Gorasul. At this point in the game, you find out that you have special powers that were given to you by your stepfather who happened to be a dragon. These special powers bring with them special ratings including dragon breath, dragon fear, dragon strength, and dragon eyes. These ratings can also be increased when you complete a level in the same way that your other ratings are increased. Although these special powers seem important, they are only truly used when Roszondas is in real trouble and needs help immediately. The dragon eye rating is different though, this special feature of the game allows you to see deeper and further when it is foggy out. After this long process, you get to choose from a list of seven weapons such as a long sword, dagger, or battle-ax. All of these weapons come with their own variable stats such as accuracy, courage, and several others.

The game play of this game is also rather interesting. As I mentioned before, it is very similar to Baldur’s Gate. You go traveling from town to town chatting with several townspeople and uncovering more and more knowledge about your mission as you go on. Also, along the way, you are asked to perform several errands, which vary greatly. Among these errands come experience points, which are greatly needed throughout the game and sometimes valuable items can be found. Before you start the game, there are even more options that you can fiddle with along with three difficulty levels. Some of these options vary from the number of quests and puzzles in a game to the actual difficulty of them. This lets the player think about what he or she is looking for from the game. If they want a very intricate and challenging game then they may choose to have more quests and missions, while if someone wants an easy version of the game and only wants to glance at what Gorasul offers then they may choose to have a very limited amount of quests and puzzles to solve.

The graphics portion of this game was quite impressive. As I mentioned before, the edges were sometimes rough but it was much more than that. The colors that they used were definitely filling seeing as it looked very rich and realistic. It may have been the goal of this game to make it look dark and slightly gothic, and I think that the graphic designers of this game went over the top with the great job they did.

Overall, this game was interesting and has some very good factors to it. I would recommend this game to anyone who has not played many RPGs in their past gaming experience. This game sort of copies other games in some ways but there is still a bit of uniqueness.
