Forza Motorsport 6 Preview

Introduction

Forza Motorsport 6 is an Xbox One exclusive racing game launching on September 15th, 2015. This highly anticipated game features over 400 cars and 26 tracks, with ten of them being new to the franchise. At 1080p and 60 frames per second, this is going to be one of the most realistic racing experience to hit the gaming world in years.

Graphics: How Realistic is Driving in Forza Motorsport 6?

The franchise has been around since the first Xbox, when the first Forza Motorsport was released 10 years ago. Creative director at Turn 10 Studios said Forza 6 is “The biggest, most technically advanced,” as they have made a more advanced AI, and those 450 cars are rendered to perfection.

As the intro paragraph states, Forza 6 will feature beautiful visuals at 1080p and 60 frames per second, but there are other important details which will make this game more realistic than other racing simulations. For instance, when you’re driving in the rain you will experience the same inconveniences as you would driving a car in real life. Tires will hydroplane across realistic 3D puddles, and your windshield wipers will struggle to keep your vision clear as the rain pours down on on you.

Exactly how realistic are the puddles though? So realistic, that game designers actually visited the real-world tracks to see where puddles were everytime it rained. Yeah, they were that serious about those puddles. But, players will get used to the puddles as they learn the tracks and remember where they form. The rain is also more realistic than ever, it used to be a cosmetic thing, but now it alters how you drive.

That’s not all. The cars have been significantly updated, and the cars look more realistic than ever. This is because of a better lighting simulation, and the way they rendered the cars to reflect light. Reflections will looks real, as light will reflect on the car’s paint in a way that it never did in the previous titles.

Drivatars in Forza Motorsport 6

Did you like the Drivatar feature introduced in Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Horizon 2? It’s coming back, slightly improved! If you missed it, Drivatars were basically a special AI system used to learn your driving behavior, so it can be used as AI to race against friends who challenge you. It will basically be you, but a robot version that drives just like you. In Horizon 2, the Drivatars were also used to populate the open world, which was a very nice addition to the series.

You will be able to bring your Drivatars from Forza Motorsport 5 and Horizon 2 over to Forza Motorsport 6. If you think your Drivatar drives too aggressively, then you will be able to actually change that in a new setting, but you can’t make it more aggressive. It’s basically a toggle switch, aggressive or professional.

Single-Player Campaign Mode

Forza Motorsport 6 will have over 70 hours of offline gaming in the single-player campaign alone. The campaign mode is called “Stories of Motorsport” and it will feature commentary from well-known racing personalities. Your career on this game will even take you back in time to celebrate the past and make history in the present. Not all of the races are in present times, and that makes the career so much more interesting as you get to relive history.

Unlock Showcase events as you make it through your career in Forza Motorsport 6, and experience more race modes, like Autocross and endurance racing. It looks like this title will feature the most dynamic and exciting single-player campaign yet.

450 Vehicles

This game has more than 450 cars, which is double the amount of cars that Motorsport 5 had when it launched. Every single car has working interiors and exteriors, cockpits and gauges, as well as Forzavista support. Some of the car models are originally from the previous titles, but they were all remade for the Xbox One, so you will definitely notice the improvement.

With cars from every era of Grand Prix motor racing, Forza Motorsport 6 will not disappoint anyone when it comes to car selection. Every type of car you can imagine is featured in this game, from supercars to muscle cars. If you’re not a fan of the classics, then you will be happy to hear 2016 models are introduced as well.

Achievements

It has been confirmed that you will be able to get 1,000 points added to your Gamerscore by unlocking all 57 achievements in Forza Motorsport 6. Achievements appear to be tied to various cars, Leagues, Mods, replays, etc. One of them is owning the 2017 Ford GT, and many more cover owning other cars and even racing in the rain.

Forza Motorsport 6 Limited Edition Xbox One

For those who don’t have an Xbox One or who just want it as a collector’s item, the Limited Edition Xbox One was announced on June 23, 205. It will come with the video game, so you can kill two birds with one stone if you don’t have an Xbox One. As you can see in the photo, it will have a racing theme, with a racing stripe, automotive sound effects and a custom blue shell. It will also come with a controller.

Conclusion

It’s hard to say anything bad about this game, with all the new cars and tracks, it looks like the best Forza Motorsport title yet. According to their website, they haven’t told us everything and there’s still a bunch of new stuff we don’t even know about. Well, it’s good to know they are doing something big for the Forza ten year anniversary, and it’s unlikely they will change the release date now. All we can do is wait!

The official release date for Forza Motorsport 6 is September 15th, but if you purchased the Ultimate Edition you will get early access and can start playing on September 10th. Those of you who live in Japan will get it two days later, and the Middle East and Africa will get it on September 18th.
