Previews and Reviews

Having read and visited the MyGamer.com website numerous times, I have come up with suggestions in which MyGamer can improve their website and content. The recommendations are the product of comparing MyGamer to other game sites as well as applying the principles of document design. The recommendations are merely a means for improving an already strong website.

Reviews and Previews pages: Scrolling down so much white text on one page can be intimidating for a reader. In addition, the length of paragraphs and white text can be tiring for the eyes. Moreover, inconsistency exists among the review pages in the structure of content: some reviews are written like feature articles whereas others are written with subcategories and have little to no resemblance to a feature article.

Solution: 1. Create a standard structure in which reviews are written. Readers should be able to become so familiar with the structure that they know to skip to certain sections of an article to get the information they want. People are creatures of habit and you want to create something that they can become familiar with. The more familiar one is with something the more likely one will be comfortable, which equals repeat visits to the website. Inconsistency in the structure can be frustrating to a reader as well as convey an unprofessional image or lack of attention to detail

2. Articles can be run on more than one page, and three if need be. This will break up stories and make them seem shorter than they really are. In addition, paragraphs can be kept to a maximum of three sentences long. Shorter paragraphs are easier on the eyes when reading and break up large chunks of text. Text can also be supplemented by in game pictures (along with captions) to liven up the pages and again break up the text making it easier on the eyes and more visually appealing.

Many thanks for the comments. They are both well founded and constructive.

Your opinion has been duly noted as our coding and bug overhaul approaches.
