When I was a kid, we played a lot of games in arcades. Of course, then we wanted those games for our home collections as well. I remember some games that were available for Atari. Later, I got my kids this controller thing to hook up to the TV to play games like Pac Man. I also found a game that was a collection of oldschool Atari games. The kids got a kick out of that one.

Arcade games always brings us back to our youth. Those of us that are old enough to remember the arcades remember them fondly. Unfortunately, modern gaming has all but done away with most arcades. And best part of the arcades wasn't even the games, it was the socialism aspect that came with them.

I've always loved arcade games, so much nostalgia and fun memories with them. Of course it's a bit different experiencing it at home on the tv, but still fun, my 10 year old gets a big kick out of all the 'vintage' (yikes) games that I remember fondly as well.

I loved playing Street Fighter and Tekken games in the arcade! I didn't get much into the console ports, though. Also I was the best pinball player in my social circle. :D

As a kid I use to live in the arcades. My mom actually worked in a arcade so I use to play games for free. Hahahah. She use to come with the key, open up the coin mechanism and load up on credits. Wooohoo!!!

The arcade games I loved playing were mostly fighting games which is why I was so excited when the more complex fighting games like Marvel vs. Cap com started to become available for home consoles. I wasn't an expert at it so I did get beaten by my friends a lot but still it was very enjoyable to be able to play them at home and not waste so much of my money on tokens. Also, I never was all that good on arcade sticks anyway so I was especially happy to be able to use regular console controllers.

I agree, thepieeatingjay, the games were fun but half the fun was getting out to hang out with other people. I loved high score competitions as well. Ah, the good old days.

I was also a fan of arcades when I was still a child. I used to be "one of the boys," and I would play Tekken and Street Fighter with my brother and friends. They would even tease me, saying that I was a "weak" player. It's really nostalgic, thinking back and remembering those days.

Yep, I hung out with my brother and his friends as well, Maryann. Such a tomboy lol, but I sure had fun. I think my brother was actually a little bit proud that I could kick some of their butts at games, although he would have never admitted it. haha. Those high score contests could get intense.

Arcade games were and in some countries still are, awesome. I loved played fighting games at the arcade because new challengers popped up all the time and people complained when a little kid whooped their butt repeatedly.

My favorite were the side-scrolling RPG's though. I remember the dungeons and dragons one and Golden Axe.. The loud voice of Gauntlet's narrator telling me that wizard needs food badly, or was that elf? I forget...

I played a lot of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man at an arcade that was close by me before it was shut down. I don't know if this game counts, but I played a lot of Dance Dance Revolution, too. I was never really a fan of fighting games, which were also abundant in my arcade. They had Street Fighter and fighting games like that, but that was more of my brother's thing.

When we talk about arcades the first things that come to my mind is Street Figher, Pacman, Pinball and Tetris... Ah, good days, we spend all our coins playing these beauties. :)

We have an arcade that opened a couple of years ago. It's primary focus is pinball, but they have added arcade video games as well. The one I enjoy the most would probably be Galaga, if it weren't for the fact that my husband always wipes the floor with me on that game. LOL

Ha, don't feel bad, Klein. My husband still wipes the floor with me at most games. lol. I do manage to beat him at pool once in a blue moon, but most video games and such, I'm a goner.

I remember at a now defunct bowling alley, there was a Soul Caliber II arcade box that I would spend half an hour on for every visit that we went during my junior high days. I would play through the game as much as I could with the character Ivy. It's a fond memory and one of the very few I have relating to P.E classes.

With the right build, I was able to beat him in World of Warcraft duels though, and we made a pretty decent 2v2 Arena team. I can also hold my own in Need for Speed, if I get to play on a PC with a keyboard (I cannot handle console controllers to save my life!).

I do remember a small and looking back now, rather ridiculous stock car game, but it kept me entertained for hours and hours days after day, so I guess times have really changed.

I loved arcades growing up. When I was young in Summer Camp, Wednesday was my favorite day because that meant we were going to the Roller Skating rink and it had an arcade as well. One of my favorite games to play back in the day was House of the Dead 1, some kids would even give me their quarters just to see me play! Unfortunately since then the rink closed down. :( I go to Dave and Busters once and awhile but it just isn't the same.

I love arcades. I dream of having a game room at home in the future. I always play racing games, fighting games and shooters at the arcade. I remember playing Tekken, Sonic Battle, House of the Dead, Marvel Vs Capcom, Soul Caliber, Street Fighter 2 and watching people being experts at Dance Revo. It's a good thing that arcades still exists to this day. It's either insert tokens or swipe cards mechanisms to play the game. Even a nongamer can have fun there and experience our hobby. I still laugh (inside) at people who play Dance Central and Just Dance with two left feet at our arcades at the malls here (play Xbox for 10 minutes).

I miss the old arcades, I remember my early 90's childhood hanging out in the arcade after my figure skating lessons in Cali. The last one in WA that closed down was back in 2005-6. Prior to that, the Everett Mall had one that was still kicking up until about 2002. These days a few movie theaters have a small arcade area for people to hang around in while waiting in line for blockbuster films.
