Eve Online news is constantly dominated by people doing the most insane things to rob other’s of their hard earned in game money, and it is good finally hear some heartwarming news come from the game. CCP, the company behind EVE, is doing something rather unique by letting players donate their PLEX pass – and in game item that is gives a player an additional 30 day access to the game—towards relief efforts. CCP is converting all of the donated PLEX into the cash equivalent, about 15 real world dollars, for the fund.
This is the first time that any game has allowed players to literally play the game and convert their actions into something for the good of the world. After so many bank scandals and the like being the only news that ever seems to break from EVE it is good to see that they are actively changing the way that people can think about the game.
