E3: Sillent Hill “Origins” up next for PSP

The exact story and nature of the fictional town Silent Hill and the events that have happened there might make a little more sense with the newly unveiled prequel to the disturbing survival-horror series, tentatively titled Silent Hill Origins. Then again, that might be wishful thinking. At this time, Silent Hill Origins is coming to PSP only. Players will assume the role of Travis O'Grady, a truck driver seemingly making a routine stop in the town of Silent Hill, only to find out something's not exactly right. It definitely doesn't help matters that he has suffered from hallucinations throughout his life to begin with, and things are only going to get worse. As the name hints, Origins will reveal details of how Silent Hill and the surrounding area became such a bizarre place. While the previous four Silent Hill games have basically used the same game engine, controls, and camera systems, look for Origins to be designed to cater to the handheld and more specifically the PSP experience. One announced feature will be a 'barricade' feature that allows you to essentially block off doorways and other places so that the monstrosities contained within Silent Hill can't get to you as easily. Akira Yamaoka, the series' composer, will be in charge of the soundtrack.

Prep yourself for handheld psychological horror sometime in 2007 in Silent Hill Origins.
