Activision has announced that Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, two high-ranking members of Visceral Games, will lead a new Activision studio in Northern California, leaving behind Visceral Games, best known for the hit title Dead Space. After EA announced a commitment to new IP driven game development, EA Redwood Shores changed their name to Visceral Games. No information has been given on the ramifications this holds for Visceral’s in-development title, Dante’s Inferno, or the Wii re-envisioning of Dead Space, Dead Space: Extraction.

When asked by Kotaku, an Activision spokesperson commented the studio will be developing new games based on current Activision franchises. "We are currently hiring employees to work at a new studio that is opening in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. Glen Schofield along with Michael Condrey will lead the studio which will be creating a new game based on one of Activision's existing franchises. We will be providing more details regarding the game at a later date."

Glen Schofield worked on the From Russia With Love, video game based on the 1963 James bond movie, while working at EA. The James Bond license now belongs to Activision, leading to speculation regarding the possibility of a reinvigoration of the series.  Stick with MyGamer for more details.
