A Journey into the Unknown –

Nintendo is offering some unique content this month for their Club Nintendo program. If you have a stock pile of Coins and willing to take a chance on some lesser known titles, March 2014 could provide the biggest sleeper hit month in the history of the program.

Game #1 – Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters (GB on 3DS VC)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $3.99
Availability – March 10, 2014 – April 6, 2014
Summary – The forgotten sequel to the original Kid Icarus reunites players with Pit and Angel Land.
Opinion – This GB sequel is a much easier and more accessible title than the original.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Gamers are probably more familiar with the original NES title than this GB sequel. Because it is only 150 Coins and you probably have never played this game, yes, it is worth your Club Nintendo coins.

Game #2 – Number Battle (DSiWare on 3DS eShop)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – March 10, 2014 – April 6, 2014
Summary – Play against computer AI or human opponents over WiFi by placing numbered tiles strategically on a board.
Opinion – I have never played this title and the official description makes gameplay sound confusing. It is one of those games you need to play the tutorial to understand what is going on.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? Out of all the games this month, Number Battle is probably the most foreign to gamers. However, people who have played this game seemed to have enjoyed it. If you have 200 Coins to burn, this might not be a bad shot in the dark.

Game #3 – Yoshi (NES on Wii U VC)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – March 10, 2014 – April 6, 2014
Summary – Stack corresponding pieces by swapping columns in this neglected puzzler.
Opinion – It is strange because Yoshi is usually associated with action/platform games but this entire puzzle game is named after him. There are some Yoshi fans out there but this puzzle game is no Tetris, Dr. Mario, or Puyo Pop.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If there is one game to skip this month, this is it.

Game #4 – Bonsai Barber (WiiWare)
Price – 250 Coins, normally 1,000 Wii Points ($10)
Availability – March 10, 2014 – April 6, 2014
Summary – Using the motion control of the Wii Remote, stylize the hair of talking vegetables.
Opinion – One of the few purely original WiiWare titles, Bonsai Barber might look like a game for babies initially but is actually supposed to carry a fair amount of depth. Personally, this game has been on my radar since it launched back in 2009 as players seem to enjoy it.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – This is the most expensive title this month but it is also the most unique. If you are looking for something different and proprietary to the Wii, this is undoubtedly the way to do it.

Final side note, the Club Nintendo program is also offering a Super Mario Accessory Box for 700 Coins for the limited time. Covered in green and enemies from the Mario games, this basket will hold whatever you want. 11” width x 7” depth x 5.5” tall.

The Link Between Worlds 3 Poster Set is also currently back in stock for 500 Coins.
