There are some game titles that make you stop and wonder what on earth you’re looking at, and BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO is definitely one of those. Thankfully, the game itself is much easier to understand. Shoot demons, move incredibly swiftly, cause absolute carnage, and somehow save Brazil along the way.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Welcome to Brazilian Chaos
BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4 wastes absolutely no time throwing you into the action. This is a fast-paced old-school FPS heavily inspired by the classic Quake game, and it wears those influences with pride.
Movement is a huge part of the experience. You can jump, double jump and dash around the game while enemies come at you from practically every direction. Standing still is generally a terrible idea, which means you’re constantly moving, shooting and trying not to become demon food.
It takes a little getting used to, but once you settle into the movement, everything starts to feel wonderfully frantic.
One Crazy Arsenal
I have played many ridiculous shooters across my years in journalism, but this one clearly decided that conventional weapon design was for sissies.
You’ve got weapons involving things like berimbaus, coconuts, money and even a feijoada bowl. There’s also a chimarrao flamethrower, because apparently somebody looked at a perfectly innocent drink and thought, “you know what this needs? Fire.”
And somehow it words beautifully.
The weapons fit the ridiculous personality of the game perfectly. Nothing feels particularly interested in realism, and that’s exactly why the combat is so entertaining.
Enemies You Won’t Forget
You will be glad to know that the enemies are just as ridiculous.
You’re fighting demons, zombies, possessed singers, Brazilian truck clowns, soccer mascots and plenty of other bizarre creations. Just when you thing you’ve seen everything, the game introduces another enemy that makes you wonder who came up with this stuff (and what were they smoking).
Combat can be pretty hectic, especially when several enemy types are thrown at you together. The fast movement helps enormously, however, allowing you to dash around attacks rather than simply standing there absorbing damage.
It’s definitely a game that rewards players who keep moving.
Secrets Aplenty
One thing I particularly enjoyed was the amount of exploration tucked into the nooks and crannies of the levels.
There are plenty of secret areas to discover, and your movement abilities can open up places that aren’t immediately obvious. Rocket jumping and double jumping aren’t simply there for show either, as they can help you discover hidden sections.
That gives you a reason to look around rather than blindly sprinting towards the next encounter. Of course, stopping to investigate a suspicious corner while a demon it trying to tear your face off isn’t always the smarted decision.
But, hey, that’s all part of the fun.
Final Thoughts
BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4 is one of those games where the sheer stupidity of what’s happening becomes a huge part of the appeal.
The fast movement is excellent, combat is chaotic, the weapons are gloriously ridiculous, and the enemies are memorable for all the right reasons. Furthermore, the secret areas give you a reason to explore instead of simply blasting through every stage.
It isn’t trying to compete with serious modern shooters, and thank the heavens for that. Sometimes you just need to shoot a possessed soccer mascot with a completely absurd weapons while wondering how the hell you have found yourself in such a situation.

A gloriously ridiculous shooter where saving Brazil somehow becomes the least strange thing happening on screen.
