Ancel, Others Knighted

Who would have thought that a giant ape would lead to someone being knighted? That’s exactly what happened yesterday, as Ubisoft’s Michael Ancel, creator of Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil, and Peter Jackson’s King Kong, was knighted by the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, for outstanding achievement in video games.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto (Zelda, Mario) and Frederick Raynal (Alone in the Dark) were also knighted. All three of them are now knights of arts and literature. This is the first time that video game developers were given such an honor.
