Zelda II to be 100th Virtual Console Game

The Wii Shop Channel averages about 1,000 games download per hour since it debut on November 19th of 2006 with the original [i]Super Mario Bros.[/i] game taking the most-downloaded slot.  The channel has downloaded more than 4.7 million games. [i]Super Mario 64[/i], [i]Mario Kart 64[/i], [i]The Legend of Zelda[/i], and [i]Super Mario World[/i] are the next most downloaded games.

 

Says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, "With an Internet connection rate reaching 40 percent, Wii owners have more options than ever to find the kinds of games they love to play. Beyond the Wii Shop Channel, all types of people are getting connected and checking out the information and entertainment options available on the Wii Menu. Whether voting, creating a Mii or just checking the weather, everyone has a favorite channel."

 

Nintendo has announced that [i]Zelda II: The Adventure of Link[/i] will be the channel’s 100th downloadable game.  Currently, the channel features downloadable games from NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, and Turbo Grafx-16 video games systems.  It has been announced that Neo Geo games will soon be added as downloadable titles.  Nintendo has been updating the Wii Shop Channel pretty consistently every Monday.
